Today we had the kitchen cabinet-makers, the plumbers, and a few carpenters. So the place was relatively bustling. One carpenter was busy making money plowing driveways, as it snowed 6-8” last night. The plumbers installed the washer and dryer, as well as hanging the bathroom sink. Oraldo (aka ‘Lalo’) replaced the broken glass tile, but it still has to be grouted before the plumbers can hang the (wall-hung) toilet.
The cabinet folks installed shelves in the upper cabinets, the drawers the open into the living room, and the kick plates below the base cabinets. They also installed shelves in front of the kitchen window. I have asked the architect to come by and verify that the position is correct. The pantry door must be reinforced before it is installed, so it went back to the shop with the cabinet-makers. Back tomorrow. Jake installed more baseboard (which is almost finished) and Eli cut more pieces for the mud room closet. I sanded trim for this closet, but otherwise loafed. This trim has to be stained to match to interior doors. (The door from the garage to the mud room is in the left photo.) The stain requires a conditioner first, as some of the wood takes stain very easily and other pieces hardly stain at all. So to get a uniform color and darkness the wood must be sanded and conditioned.
