I ordered steel shelving for my garage — twelve feet of it. Through the miracle of delivery tracking I knew that it arrived in Taos on Saturday and was loaded on the truck to be delivered Monday. But it didn’t come Monday. Today I looked up the address of the carrier office in Taos but could not find it by driving around. (The address is on a short street, which I found easily.)
However, late this afternoon my order arrived. The packages were a bit beat up and taped back together, but the contents seem to be OK. I assembled two of the three sections and ran out of steam. Tomorrow I’ll find a way to bolt them to the wall so they don’t come tumbling down in an earthquake. Yes, we are in a moderate earthquake zone: that is what formed the Rio Grande valley.
Most of the activity is painting and tiling. The painting is taking longer than I expected, but, then, they are doing a better quality job than I expected. I will finish priming the bathroom tomorrow morning. (I can’t very well paint the shower ceiling while Eli is installing tile on the shower wall!)
A couple more people stopped by today to look at the house. They all say nice things about it, but I don’t suppose they would say bad things!
I think having a utility sink with running water and a sewer connection is finally having an effect. I looks as though my second 'lime pit' is beginning to dry up. The first one was filled with stucco plaster and running over. The second one filled with wash water from drywall mud and painting. The mud, tile mortar, and paint still go in the pit, but we now wash in the sink.
