On Friday we ran out of glass tile for the bathroom. More is on order, but it comes from California and takes a while to get here. Jesus cleaned the tile that has been installed so it can be grouted. Eli got most of the large niche tiled.
Bill, the architect, has returned from his two-week vacation and came around to view progress. We discussed colors of the garage door and the outside sconces. The garage door would be better if it were a shade darker to match the wood stain, but it will do. The wall sconces have to be changed, and Sybille is trying to find the right color. I lean towards a shade of gray that matches either the wood stain or the slate porch tile.
At the end of the day we re-installed the front door. Because it was late, we did not drill the door for the lock, so it looks a bit strange, but that will change Monday. Writing of locks, we installed the locks on the south patio doors. The deadbolt does not work quite right yet, but we think that is a minor adjustment and the house is actually secure, as if I cared at this point. We finished staining the trellis that we erected the day before and I realized that I must stain the red cedar canales (scuppers) to match all the other exterior wood. I’ll try to do that this weekend, probably early Sunday afternoon. The rest of the weekend is booked with cleanup days at both church and here, ballads at Taos Java, a discussion of aging, and contra dancing, church choir, and a theater production. [It is amazing how much goes on in this little rural town.]
The replacement door casing (correct profile this time) arrived and it will have to be sanded prior to painting on Tuesday.
