I dusted the ceiling and walls of the garage, using a soft push broom. Then I vacuumed around the window sill and pipes to pick up the drywall dust that had settled there and along the bottom edge of the walls. Finally I took a damp sponge and wiped the walls. The garage is ready to be primed. The other rooms have been getting drywall mud (joint compound) every day. I sanded a few rough spots today — especially around the door and window openings, as these require a thick coat of mud, which shrinks and cracks as it dries. We built out the openings last, so they will be last to be ready. The kitchen should be ready to prime tomorrow, too — especially because most of the kitchen walls are covered by cabinets or appliances.
A friend warned me that field mice (meadow voles) might be trapped inside the house when the doors are installed. I have seen rabbits on the lot, but no voles. On the other hand there are plenty of insects already in the house. Apparently they are not aware of the need for an Occupancy Permit before moving in.
