Yesterday Eli installed the drawer pulls and door knobs in the kitchen — at least on those that are installed. The kitchen will look very nice when it is finished. The wood is lovely. We installed the three sets of bifold doors today. There are two sets of louvered doors on the closet and one set of paneled (appearing) bifold doors on the laundry. After a bit of touch-up painting we can install the washer and dryer. That will relieve a little room in the garage, where they have been stored for a month or so.
I took some photos of the outside of the house in the early morning light. It was cold out (18° F) and the leaves have dropped from the trees. I also removed the orange construction fence from in front of the house, but I could not get all the metal fence posts out of the ground, and with strong southern sun, it was not a good time to take photos of the north side of the house. The electricians came to move the strip lights over the kitchen cabinets. The lamps were visible from the living room, so we put the corner lights on the diagonal, which solves that problem. I replaced halogen spot lamps with LED. The color is different, but mostly the pattern is not so irregular as was the case with the halogens. The only remaining electrical work is installation of the radiant heater in the bathroom and official inspection.
Randy came to measure the ductwork that will connect the furnace (which is hanging from the ceiling) with the ducts in the house. I shooed him away, because I though the furnace was too large. It is too large, but I cannot get a smaller one with the features I want from this installer. We had a discussion and I consulted my heating engineer over the phone and this seems close to the originally specified furnace (of a different brand). All it needs is ductwork, electricity, gas, and connection to the high-tech thermostat.
