Water Tanks Arrive

It occurred to me overnight that, when the garage door is open, I will be sucking cold winter air into the heat storage under the floor. I need to shut off the circulation fan whenever the garage door is open. It would be very easy to put a switch on the garage door, or even to tap into the electric garage door opener, but how do I get that signal to the fan in the rear of the garage, 25 feet away without running an unsightly wire?

I have a related problem in that the security system control box will be in the garage, detecting when a window is open, but I want this signal to control the furnace on hot summer nights to open or close the exhaust vent in the mechanical room. I forgot to include (at least) an extra pair of wires between the garage and the mechanical room. I can imagine some electronic signal running over the electric wiring, but cannot find the appropriate interface.

While going to the house this morning the moon was about to set into the western horizon. The water storage tanks arrived today in a semi truck too long to get to our house. We ferried them in a pickup and stored them amongst the trees so they won’t blow away. They are only 32" diameter but 8' tall and will be located in the south end of the garage, but I don’t want to install them until: 1- we have the ductwork installed behind one of them 2- I’m sure I don’t need garage space for my furnitureWe did little stuff today. The cabinet makers retrieved two cabinets because there is somehow not enough width for the refrigerator. Lalo (aka Oraldo) installed a couple of door stops. The grout is drying on the porch and in the mud room. I sanded and painted trim. Latches installed into the sliding pocket doors. Picture molding has all been installed (and we have some left over).

The painter came to cut in around the staining he did earlier. The front door has a rough-sawn panel (which takes stain very well, so we thinned the stain) but the panel is surrounded by a smooth shaped edge where it fits into the stiles and rails. This smooth part looks pale, so it will get a bit more stain, then the whole door will be sealed.

Just lots of little stuff left. I guess the architect was correct when he said we were 85% complete in his last report. I fantasized that we were closer to the end.
