Two and a half hours. Well, two hours hauling sand and half hour picking up. When I spoke with the landscaper, she said that sand would be a great addition to the silt-clay soil. Not only do I have sand left over from the plastering, but so does my neighbor. So I hauled 5 barrow loads (about 2,000 pounds) of sand to my lot.I thought about where to dump (store) it, and decided that, while I was moving it, I might as well put it behind the house, as long as there was a clear path. So I moved a bit of rock, picked up some concrete plaster, loaded the wheelbarrow, and hauled each load about 500 feet. What seems like flat ground when you are walking clearly shows slope and bumps when pushing 400 pounds of sand!
On Thursday the electricians installed the outside fixtures. Here is a photo of the light sconces (and the doorbell button). They are ceramic, painted an exciting gray, which may (or not) match the garage door when it comes. But the nice thing about paint is that it is easy to change colors.Speaking of colors, we looked at the five color boards in each respective room. Most are fine. The bath paint will have to wait until we have some tile installed, but that should start Monday. The study and bedroom colors were not quite right, so we selected another chip, will get another quart mixed, and try again.
