This is a picture of my garage, recently painted. As you can see, we are using it as a storage space for the finish wood (under the plywood sheet) and the paint buckets. The left wall will have plumbing fixtures, including the utility sink that you see near the back. In the right rear corner is the boxed bath sink. Hanging from the ceiling are wires for the garage door opener, which is due to arrive this week, and fluorescent lights.
In the upper left is the drain pipe from the roof. It is here that we will install a clarifier (to remove sediment and bird droppings from the rainwater) and divert the water into tall storage tanks in each rear corner of the garage.
In the lower left rear corner is a dark box. This is the air duct from under the floor. This triangular metal duct will extend up to the ceiling behind a water tank, where a small fan will circulate the air. (We forgot to include an electric outlet for this fan, so will need an extension cord.)
In addition to the utility sink on the left wall, we will have a water softener, water heater, and the main water shutoff valve. I have ordered steel shelving for the right side of the garage. The electric outlets under the window (another is hidden behind the sink) can be used for an irrigation pump.
The only work I did Saturday was about two hours of final sanding in the study and bedroom. Well, not quite. I hauled the last bit of sand for an hour. The pile is now about 50 cubic feet, or about 5,000 pounds of sand. Then I pulled weeds and cut off dead sunflowers around the common house with other members of our community. After a big lunch at Stakeout Pizza I took a siesta.
