Valverde Commons, where I live and build, was developed by two couples. They commissioned a web site to market the community and the lots. As the lots are now sold, the community is interested in taking over the web site and adding community functionality. I have been gathering requirements. The past two days I have talked with the two web developers in Taos. Both use WordPress, but one also suggested Expression Engine, as it is not so popular and thus not such a large target for hackers.
Our community desperately needs a shared mailing list. Right now we have 32 versions of our list — one for each member. This, of course, is folly. We have other requirements, but this is the most important and broadly needed.
Meanwhile, Jake, Lalo, and Ulisses have started to wrap the house in a waterproof, breathable paper and cover that with wire mesh in preparation for plastering. It will take about four times around to cover the walls. The parapets require special waterproofing, and that will take more time.Meanwhile I hope to paint the black EPDM roof with white exterior acrylic gloss paint. This will reflect the summer heat and keep the house cooler in the summer — although R-52 should help, too.
