This evening we have Dr. Richard Rubin, who will speak on “Aldo Leopold’s Land Ethic” with photos, describing Aldo and Estella Leopold’s origins and years in New Mexico as Supervisor of the Carson National Forest and daughter of a founding family. These years inspired the beginning of his pioneering conservation insights and achievements. His work culminated in the classic 1949 book A Sand County Almanac. Leopold’s formulation of a land ethic continues to be important for environmental values.
Dr. Rubin is a retired physician, Taos resident and author of Living the Leopolds’ Mi Casita Ecology. He is a volunteer steward of Aldo Leopold’s historic home in Tres Piedras.
