Were there Two Adams

Were there Two Adams?

I was sent an email the other day from the Israel Biblical Studies, from whom I am currently studying Hebrew online. It is a great course if anyone is interested in learning Scriptural Hebrew so as to study the original Hebrew texts for yourself. Anyway, they sent me this blog questioning whether there were two Adams. Well, if there were two Adams, there must be two Eves. Right? How about two different Elohim? Don’t worry, I haven’t flipped my lid and do not believe a word of it. However, I do like to study these things and write my own assessment so I will have a well researched reply if asked this question.

Summary:

“Two Adams

There is an essential difference between the two versions of the creation of man. In chapter 1 man is created “in God’s own image” (Gen. 1:27), however in chapter 2 Adam is, "formed… of the dust of the ground" (Gen. 2:7). As a result of this difference, one can easily surmise that we have two different Adams here—one created in chapter one, and another created in chapter two.

The same word

In Genesis 1, God’s word is the main part of the whole creative process: God gives names to the things, and thus calls them into existence. In this light, it is extremely significant that the very first thing we see Adam doing in Genesis 2, is giving names to all the animals (Gen. 2:19, 20). The same very word that refers to God in Genesis, VaYikra (ויקרא), here refers to Adam “and he called”.”

They do not specifically refer to a second Eve but the accounts in Genesis 1 and 2 that apply to her read pretty much the same way. And the scary part is that there are quite likely many people who are going to buy into this nonsense.

Allow me to dissect this for you:

Gen. 1:26 - And Elohim said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.

I believe this was a general outline of what occurred on day six; and that, in chapter two, it simply back-tracks and goes into further detail on how He created the first man and woman. When we sculpt clay, we might be forming it into their image and likeness of a person, but we need material to do it with. But here is a question they do not ask; “Why did Yahuwah see the need to form Adam from the dust of the ground when it appears that He created all the other creatures with His mere word. The human body comprises all the essential elements on the planet forming a sort of oneness with the earth and creation. Perhaps this represents the oneness that Yahuwah has with His creation – aside from rebellious mankind. And, who is to say that Yahuwah merely chose not to elaborate on how He created the other creatures. The central focus was on mankind, after all.

27 - So Elohim created man in his own image, in the image of Elohim created he him; male and female created he them.

There you have it! Yahuwah uses the same language in regard to Eve as with Adam. Later, in Chapter 2, He causes a deep sleep to come over Adam, takes a rib from his side and formed Eve. Yet this bog makes no mention of two Eves. It has to be both or neither.

Gen. 2:7 - And Yahuwah Elohim formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

How many times have you heard the word “soul” mentioned in regard to being something that we possess - something separate from the body? Right here is the proof that it is not something we possess but what we are – a living soul.

The following represents the traditional Christian teaching of what a soul is:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul

The soul, in many religious, philosophical, and mythological traditions, is the incorporeal essence of a living being.[1] Soul or psyche (Ancient Greek: ψυχή psūkhḗ, of ψύχειν psū́khein, "to breathe") comprises the mental abilities of a living being: reason, character, feeling, consciousness, memory, perception, thinking, etc. Depending on the philosophical system, a soul can either be mortal or immortal.[2] In Judeo-Christianity, only human beings have immortal souls (although immortality is disputed within Judaism and the concept of immortality may have been influenced by Plato).[3] For example, the Catholic theologian Thomas Aquinas attributed "soul" (anima) to all organisms but argued that only human souls are immortal.[4]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incorporeality

Incorporeal or uncarnate means without a physical body, presence or form.

Yahuwah tells us we are a living soul and Traditional Christianity teaches a separation of body and soul. If we are living souls, how can we be immortal when we obviously know that we are not? Is that not the lie HaSatan told Eve, that she was already elohim/immortal? So, when the body (Adam’s) died, HaSatan likely cooked up this lie to cover the first one - “Yes, the body must die, but upon death, your “immortal” soul goes immediately to heaven and you will live on for all eternity.” This is the problem with all liars; they have to dream up lie after lie to cover their previous ones.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortality#Religious_views

Immortality in ancient Greek religion originally always included an eternal union of body and soul as can be seen in Homer, Hesiod, and various other ancient texts.

It would appear that the notion of an immortal soul separate from the body is one that has been around for a long time and likely came straight from Nimrod and Babylon. It certainly predates the Exodus.

NO ONE WANTS TO DIE! And so, we burn out our imaginations dreaming up the most fanciful ways around it. Well folks, I’m here to tell you that there is no way around it. The penalty for sin is death. Period! No ifs, ands, or buts! Graveyard dead – that’s it! And, we will remain that way until the end of the age, when we will be resurrected (entirely at Yahuwah’s discretion) from the dead, be judged, and receive our new spiritual bodies if that judgement goes in our favour.

Of course, Traditional Christianity bought this lie up, hook, line and sinker – just like all the other pagan doctrine they injected into their faith. We have had 2,000 years since the advent of Yahushua to examine all the doctrines delivered to us by lying ministers (sons of the Antichrist) and the vast majority have not bothered to do so. These are the ones I think of with the Scriptural phrase “slothful and lazy servants.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_eschatology

Until the late modern era, the standard Jewish belief was that after one dies, one's immortal soul joins God in the world to come while one's body decomposes. At the end of days, God will recompose one's body, place within it one's immortal soul, and that person will stand before God in judgement.

The only part of us that is separate from the body is Yahuwah’s spirit dwelling in us. That is what Yahuwah breathed into Adams nostrils – the spirit of life; Yahuwah’s own spirit. That is what returns to Yahuwah when we die. That is what will return to us when we are resurrected.

Of course, this “spirit of life” is not quite the same as Yahuwah’s spirit of righteousness that we received at baptism. The following are my own definitions of these two terms:

Spirit of Life – this is the spirit that is in every human being at birth. We inherited it from Adam. This spirit grants us elohim-like abilities that distinguishes us from all other creatures – speech, creativity, the capacity to reason, the ability to communicate with our creator, etc. We are unique in this regard compared to all other creatures because we were created after the elohim kind.

The Spirit of Righteousness – This is the spirit that enters us at baptism. It imparts the ability to distinguish between good and evil and the will to choose good. It grants us an intimacy with the Creator Elohim, which no un-baptized person (or any of the other creatures) will ever know. When we allow this spirit to fully grow inside of us, it helps us to model ourselves after HaMashiyack, and; not only take on His righteous character but become the embodiment of righteousness.

Gen. 2:18 - And Yahuwah Elohim said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.

And so, Eve was created on the same day, but not at the same time of day or in the same manner as Adam; she was created from Adam, not from the earth. But since Adam was created from the earth and Eve was created from Adam, she too was ultimately created from the earth also and harboured the same basic earthly elements.

20 - And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Well, of course Adam needed a mate. How else could he populate the earth? All the other creatures had one. Of course, after Adam had to face Yahuwah because of his disobedience, he blamed the woman “whom you created” and Yahuwah for creating her.

21 - And Yahuwah Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 - And the rib, which Yahuwah Elohim had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 - And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Again, why does this blog not mention anything about two Eves?

And, do you remember when I questioned earlier why the blog didn’t claim there were two Elohim? All throughout chapter 1 and the beginning of chapter 2, the Creator is simply called Elohim; and from Verse 4 of Chapter two, it changes to Yahuwah Elohim. Does that imply that there were two Elohim, one called Elohim and the other called Yahuwah Elohim? Well, in truth, there were two Elohim involved in the creation, the Father and the son. However, that fact does not apply in this case. The Father bestowed all of His creative power in the Son and it was the Son who did all the creating by the power and the will of the Father; but only One interacted directly with the creation – the Son. The Father’s essence cannot dwell amongst nor approach the corruptible physical creation without destroying it. That is why He needed one of the creation to perform this task for Him. This was the entire purpose of creating His Only Begotten Son. Is this not what is going to happen in the Last Day – when all that remains corruptible is destroyed as the Father approaches?

The way I understand this is, since the Father and the Son are one in mind and purpose, chapter 1 is simply talking in general terms – the Son did the creating but the Father bestowed the power on Him to do the creating, ergo the terms such as “our” and “us” in regard to the Elohim that did the creating. From Gen. 2:4, it specifically identified which Elohim, Yahuwah, in whose name Yahushua came. Therefore, the One the world calls Yahuwah is also Yahushua.

Conclusion

It is HaSatan who brought about any and all confusion concerning Yahuwah’s word. He loves it when we receive and proclaim his lies. And the human race, by and large, still believe his lie – that we are already Elohim and that we will not die.

Of course, there are all sorts of strange doctrine out there. It is strange to the words of Scripture, but not to the teachings that come from the most ancient of pagan beliefs. I am sure you all have come across a number of them. Plus we all likely know someone who has bought into them. Let it not be so with us.

I almost laugh when I encounter someone twisting the scriptures to suit their warped doctrine. And, I have run into a lot of it! Clearly, they are doing HaSatan’s work. Like wolves in sheep’s clothing, they inject themselves among us and attempt to divert of minds to their way of thinking. All such should be cast immediately from any assembly of True Believers before they spoil the whole batch. If you believe that can never happen, study the Seven Letters of Revelation 2 & 3 to see how deceivers entered the assemblies of the fledgling faith and drew many away from the True Faith with their evil, lying doctrines.

We really need to keep our noses to the grindstone and focus on the scriptures alone. Study and prove (or disprove) all matters of doctrine that are presented to us! We are the upholders of the truth. And, when we stumble, we cause a chain reaction, causing others to stumble, also. Therefore; we must be the guardians of truth at all times.

Yahuwah Bless
