Song of Yahuwah

The following passages come from the book of the Old Testament known as “the Song of Solomon” but can easily be interpreted as the song of Yahuwah concerning His faithful followers.

Song of Solomon 4

1 - Behold, you are fair, my love; behold, you are fair; you have doves’ eyes within your locks: your hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead.

2 - Your teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.

3 - Your lips are like a thread of scarlet, and your speech is comely: your temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within your locks.

4 - Your neck is like the tower of David built for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.

5 - Your two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies.

6 - Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.

7 - You are all fair, my love; there is no spot in you.

8 - Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions’ dens, from the mountains of the leopards.

9 - You have ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; you have ravished my heart with one of your eyes, with one chain of your neck.

10 - How fair is your love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is your love than wine! and the smell of your ointments than all spices!

11 - Your lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under your tongue; and the smell of your garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

12 - A garden enclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.

13 - Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard,

14 - Spikenard and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices:

15 - A fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.

16 - Awake, O north wind; and come, you south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.

I am sure that many among the faithful have a rather dim view of themselves. Even knowing that our sins of ugliness have been washed away; and knowing that we are doing our best to follow in the footsteps of HaMashiyack to fully incorporate the Way of Yahuwah in our lives, we seem to suffer from severe self-esteem issues. That is because we are looking at ourselves via worldly eyes. We must learn to see ourselves as Yahuwah sees us.

As we continue on our journey of growing into the stature of HaMashiyack, we should stop occasionally and give ourselves a pat on the back on account of our accomplishments. In the annals of all human history, few have been chosen for this journey. We have been honoured with special privilege, of being chosen for a special purpose that is foreign to almost all other human beings that have ever lived.

What is it that Yahuwah saw in us that we did not see? We all must share some special qualities that attracted Yahuwah to us in the first place. Low self-esteem can be blocking our vision in recognizing these qualities. They make us special. They make us the chosen “treasures” of Yahuwah.

Our natural tendency is to view ourselves as the world sees us – nothing special at all. This is what shapes our self-esteem. We need to, instead, see ourselves the way Yahuwah sees us. This section of the Song of Solomon describes perfectly how we appear to Yahuwah.

Yahuwah sees us as beautiful, inside and out. He adores us and wishes to shower us with His finest treasures and most wonderful fragrances. He wishes to crown us with glory and honour as His kings and priests in the age to come. He is like a bride groom wishing to “show off” His beautiful bride. His love for us knows no bounds. We are his pride and joy.

This is not the superficial beauty of a movie star or glamour queen highlighted by mascara and makeup. This is genuine spiritual beauty that comes from within. It cannot be dressed up to project a totally different picture. It is what it is and cannot be disguised. Yahuwah sees through all fake disguises. He knows who you really are, even if you don’t. He sees and knows everything there is to see and know about us; and in spite of our shortcomings, it is our hearts that He looks upon and what He judges us by. It is our hearts that makes us beautiful to Him.

Many in the religious world think that they can hide or disguise their ugliness by being in the right church or by standing behind the right minister or priest. I say there is no such thing, humanly speaking. There is only one true church – the Kingdom of Yahuwah. There is only one true King and High Priest – Yahushua. There is only one true Creator and Elohim of all creation – Yahuwah. We have no need of any other.

Most churches try to get their followers to believe in their “pray and pay” philosophy. You faithfully pay your tithes to the church and pray that the minister is telling you the truth. These people are too lazy to blow the dust of their book of Scriptures and hear the word of Yahuwah themselves. They are like the ancient Israelites at Mt. Sinai, when Yahuwah presented Himself before them to talk to them directly. They wanted nothing to do with it. They wanted Moses to talk to Elohim for them and return to tell them what He said. This is the attitude of many church goers as well. They do not wish to learn directly from Yahuwah. They want their minister to do all the work for them. After all, isn’t that what they are paying him to do? Might I call such a thing “churchitude”?

We become a creature of ravishing beauty to Yahuwah when we make the effort approach His throne on our own two feet. That is, without disguise, without hypocrisy; but rather, with a heart full of yearning for the truth and a spirit willing to learn directly from the only true source of truth – Yahuwah.

There is no source of truth in the physical realm. All are mixed with lies, opinions and self-serving agendas – even the most well-meaning. They may speak what they earnestly believe to be the truth, but unless that truth matches up perfectly with Yahuwah’s words, they remain lies.

This is why we must cast off all worldly attitudes and accept what Yahuwah tells us as the absolute, irrefutable truth. If we filter the truth of Yahuwah through other humans and traditionally accepted understandings, we will end up like rats on a sinking ship.

Going to any church to seek the “word of God” is like what the ancients did in going to Balaam instead of Yahuwah for instructions. They, like the ancient Israelites, did not want Yahuwah to speak directly to them. They wanted someone else to do that and report back to them. They ended up putting all of their trust in a false prophet, who spoke lies to them and got them in trouble with Yahuwah. When Balaam tried to curse the Israelites, his curses were turned back on him. He did absolutely no good for the people who trusted in him. Instead he brought then great harm.

Like Balaam of old, today’s churches do more harm than good. They mislead and deceive, no matter how unintentional. They, themselves, believe the lie; therefore the lie is all they know how to teach.

Yahuwah is living truth – truth personified. Yahuwah is incapable of lying; therefore, we can accept everything he says as truth – including the way he sees us. We must shed off all feelings of low self-esteem and recognize ourselves as Yahuwah does.

Our earnest desire to seek all truth directly from the mouth of Yahuwah is what makes us beautiful to Him. We are a special set-apart people, dedicated to the service of Yahuwah. This is what Yahuwah has desired since He first created man. We are fulfilling the purpose for which we were created. This is extremely pleasant to Yahuwah. We have chosen Yahuwah as our only true Elohim. We believe His every word. We offer all praise and prayer to Him directly and adore Him with every ounce of our being. We love Him above all else and make Him number one in our lives. We appear before Him without makeup or disguise, standing naked and unashamed. We have opened our hearts and minds to allow Yahuwah to dwell within us and work through us. We are His joy and daily delight.

We may have too much low self-esteem to see ourselves as Yahuwah sees us; however, the words of Solomon 4 describe exactly how Yahuwah envisions us and we need to believe it, accept it, and see ourselves in this same light. We need to love ourselves like Yahuwah does. We, in reality, may not yet be perfect in all things, but Yahuwah knows that we are trying.

Therefore, take heart and persevere. Yahuwah loves and adores us like a bride groom does his bride. We are more valuable to Yahuwah than any precious stone. We are His joy and delight and He loves to show us off before the world and before HaSatan, proving that there is goodness and righteousness here on earth in spite of Satan’s efforts to destroy it all.

So, the next time you are feeling down or like you are not going to get through all of this, remember these words and delight and take courage through them that we are the apple of Yahuwah’s eye and that His love knows no bounds.

Yahuwah Bless
