Is the Greek Iesous/Jesus Really Tammuz

One thing you will never find is a person by the name of “Jesus Christ” being born in Palestine in or around the beginning of the Common Era. The Messiah’s registered birth name was Yahushua bar Yoseph (Yahushua the son of Joseph). The Jews would have given their children Greek names. Such a thing would have alienated them from the rest of Jewish society.

So where did the name “Jesus Christ” come from? And what is its connection to the former pagan messiah, Tammuz?

To begin this study, we must begin with where the concept of the need for a “redeemer” originated.

Gen. 3:15 - And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

Jamieson Faucet and Brown

15. thy seed--not only evil spirits, but wicked men.

seed of the woman--the Messiah, or His Church [CALVIN, HENGSTENBERG].

I will put enmity between thee and the woman--God can only be said to do so by leaving "the serpent and his seed to the influence of their own corruption; and by those measures which, pursued for the salvation of men, fill Satan and his angels with envy and rage."

thou shalt bruise his heel--The serpent wounds the heel that crushes him; and so Satan would be permitted to afflict the humanity of Christ and bring suffering and persecution on His people.

it shall bruise thy head--The serpent's poison is lodged in its head; and a bruise on that part is fatal. Thus, fatal shall be the stroke which Satan shall receive from Christ, though it is probable he did not at first understand the nature and extent of his doom.

This was the first reference to a coming Messiah or Redeemer. Therefore, it was known that such a person was prophesied to come all the way back to the Garden of Eden. A trend/pattern that began way back then continues to be played out in all the pagan religions today. That is to attempt to bring about biblical prophecy by their own means. The cultivators of the coming one world religion in our time employ the exact same method.

So when the very first recorded pagan religion found its roots, it did not want to wait for the promised Messiah of Yahuwah to come. They instead created their own messiah for the people to worship and developed his character to fit that of the future Messiah whom Yahuwah planned to send.

This was all part of HaSatan’s deception. A lie only works if it has some degree of truth thrown in. First he told the first woman that if she ate the forbidden fruit, she would become wise and godlike. Adam believed her and ate also. From that point on, HaSatan became the object of worship for almost the entire Earth. There was only the very rare exception.

The success of a lie depends on how close it resembles the truth. It is just like counterfeit money. The closer it is to the real thing, the easier it is to pass off as the truth; and with every generation that follows after the lie, the lie is more strongly believed.

Christianity has had over 2000 years to cultivate its followers. And, not too many like to deviate, even when faced with the truth. We have all known the frustration of trying to convince our relatives and friends of the truth. It is like running up to and throwing ourselves against a brick wall. Nothing seems to compute in their minds. We might as well be talking to a mannequin.

The Babylonian Mystery Religion can be traced back some 3500 years, and is still found to this day in all the various forms of religions worldwide. It is perhaps most prevalent within the Christian religion. In fact, it can be truthfully said that the Christian religion is nothing more than a clever makeover of the Babylonian Mystery Religion.

The Babylonian Mystery religion began with the ancient king, Nimrod. Nimrod was the great grandson of Noah. While he knew that Noah was officially the King and High Priest of the world, Nimrod refused to obey or submit to Yahuwah’s authority.

One of the facts from which Nimrod claimed his authority was that when Noah went into the ark, he brought with him the “mantle” of Adam.

mantle

[man-tl]

noun

1.

a loose, sleeveless cloak or cape.

This mantle would have been considered at the time the same as a crown. However, this mantel was not freely given to Nimrod by Noah. It was stolen from Noah by Ham and passed on to Cush and then Nimrod. Therefore, Nimrod possessed the mantle illegally, and his claim of authority was bogus. Yet, because Nimrod was known as a mighty hunter and warrior; and because he built strong cities to protect the people, he was championed by them and they believed whatever he told them.

However, it was Shem, not Nimrod, who was next in line to Noah to be the King and High Priest of Earth in the service of Yahuwah. It was Shem, under the title of Melchizadek, who met and received a tenth of the spoil from Abraham after he rescued Lot. Abraham recognized the divine authority of Shem and therefore rightly paid him his tithe. Of course, Abraham lived with and learned at the feet of Noah and Shem for quite some time, according to the Book of Jasher. The same book reveals that there was a great deal of animosity between Nimrod and Abraham over Abraham’s refusal to recognize Nimrod’s authority.

When Nimrod died, he had no male heir. That fact put his wife and queen (Semiramis) in great jeopardy of losing her crown and position of authority over the people. She therefore purposely got herself impregnated, so that she could produce an heir and hold onto her position. Naturally, since Nimrod was dead and incapable of producing an heir, she had to come up with a good story to support her claim. Since it had been long known that the true Messiah would be born of a virgin, Semiramis concocted the story that the spirit of Nimrod (who was worshiped as a god) came to her and impregnated her. By that time the people were so devoted to Nimrod that they bought the story hook, line and sinker. They then began to worship Tammuz as both the son of god and the Sun God. They were still worshiping Tammuz at the time of Ezekiel; and it is reported in the book by the same name that even the women of Israel were found worshiping this false sun god outside the Temple of Yahuwah. They actually turned their back towards Yahuwah and the Temple, facing north, and worshiping Tammuz.

Eze. 8:14 - Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahuwah’s house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

As the worship of Tammuz spread westward, numerous changes were made to his form of worship including several different name changes. The Greeks worshiped him as Apollo and the Romans as Dionysus. Similar attributes were applied to all.

So, by the time the real Messiah appeared on the world stage, the pagan Gentiles could not discern any difference between the messiah they had always been worshiping and the true Messiah. Neither did they see any need to change messiahs. Yet, the early Believers were converting so many people, that the Roman authorities saw a need to safeguard their religious beliefs (and power over the people), and they devised a clever counterfeit, which came to be known as Christianity. And, because the lie had for so long resembled the truth, the people had no problem changing from one counterfeit to another. The Roman authorities merely changed the names (once again) to stay true to their pagan roots. They also changed the former pagan statues and temples into Christian ones. The former statues of Semiramis holding the infant, Tammuz, was changed to Mary and Iesous. The symbol of the cross was transferred over to Jesus worship as was all the other pagan customs and traditions. Former statues of Tammuz were renamed Iesous. The English translators later (again) changed the name to “Jesus”.

Most True Believers never “crossed over” to the new counterfeit. Those who did were merely seeking to please Emperor Constantine. “Him that you obey, him also do you worship. Emperor worship had been alive and well long before Constantine and continues to this day. In fact, that practice also dates back to Nimrod.

The Constantine Creed

“I renounce all customs, rites, legalisms, unleavened breads and sacrifices of lambs of the Hebrews, and all the other feasts of the Hebrews, sacrifices, prayers, aspirations, purifications, sanctifications, and propitiations, and fasts and new moons, and Sabbaths, and superstitions, and hymns and chants, and observances and synagogues. absolutely everything Jewish, every Law, rite and custom and if afterwards I shall wish to deny and return to Jewish superstition, or shall be found eating with Jews, or feasting with them, or secretly conversing and condemning the Christian religion instead of openly confuting them and condemning their vain faith, then let the trembling of Cain and the leprosy of Gehazi cleave to me, as well as the legal punishments to which I acknowledge myself liable. And may I be an anathema in the world to come, and may my soul be set down with Satan and the devils.”

(Stefano Assemani, Acta Sanctorium Martyrum Orientalium at Occidentalium, Vol. 1, Rome 1748, page 105)

Furthermore, any follower of the “Jewish Messiah” (Yeshua HaMashiach) who wished to join this “holy community” was compelled to adopt a different set of rules and customs. Subsequently special creeds were drafted, to which the Christian would have to swear such as:

“I accept all customs, rites, legalism, and feasts of the Romans, sacrifices. Prayers, purifications with water, sanctifications by Pontificus Maxmus (high priests of Rome), propitiations, and feasts, and the New Sabbath “So! dei” (day of the Sun, ), all new chants and observances, and all the foods and drinks of the Romans. In other words, I absolutely accept everything Roman, every new law, rite and custom, of Rome, and the New Roman Religion.”

Additionally, in approximately 365 AD, the Council of Laodicea wrote, in one of their canons:

Christians must not Judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day. Rather, honoring the Lord’s Day. But if any shall be found to be Judaizers, let them be anathema (against) from Christ”.

This followed the same pattern laid down originally by Nimrod (and his successors). The people were made to accept the emperor as their god in place of Yahuwah. And, of course, in obeying the emperor, the people brought themselves into disobedience to Yahuwah. This act may have saved their physical lives, but they threw all hope of a spiritual future beyond the grave out the window. The Christian religion still worships Constantine in place of Yahuwah; and the “Reformation” did absolutely nothing to change that.

Even the image of Jesus with his effeminate features and long flowing hair were “borrowed” from Tammuz. To lend legitimacy to this image, the Christian “Fathers” confused the terms Nazarene and Nasserite. A Nazarene is someone who was born in Nazareth. A Nasserite was someone who made a vow to Yahuwah, shaved their heads and abstained from wine. They would not cut their hair until their vow was complete. This where the concept of a Messiah with long flowing hair comes from. However, scriptures that imply that Yahushua had to be pointed out in a crowd, deny that claim. The style of the day was short hair. If Yahushua had of had long flowing hair, he would have been easily recognizable in any crowd. And, there is no mention anywhere in the scriptures that Yahushua ever took such a vow. Also, it was part of Jewish law that a man was not to make himself to resemble a woman.

Tammuz

Tammuz (tä´məz), ancient nature deity worshiped in Babylonia. A god of agriculture and flocks,he personified the creative powers of spring. He was loved by the fertility goddess Ishtar, who, according to one legend, was so grief-stricken at his death that she contrived to enter theunderworld to get him back. According to another legend, she killed him and later restored himto life. These legends and his festival, commemorating the yearly death and rebirth of vegetation, corresponded to the festivals of the Phoenician and Greek Adonis and of the Phrygian Attis. TheSumerian name of Tammuz was Dumuzi. In the Bible his disappearance is mourned by thewomen of Jerusalem (Ezek. 8.14).

This site records the following:

The most extensive claims about Tammuz claims that:

1. At a sacred time of his "passion in Jerusalem", he "wore a 'crown of thorns' made of myrrh."

2. He was annually sacrificed in the Temple in Jerusalem.

3. Was called "only-begotten Son" and "Son of the Blood"; as well as Healer, Savior, Heavenly Shepherd, and Anointed One.

4. He "tended the flocks of stars, which were considered souls of the dead in heaven."

5. Acharya adds that Tammuz/Adonis was "representative of the spirit of the corn" and this connects with Bethlehem meaning "House of Bread" or "House of Corn."

6. She also adds that Tammuz was "born in the very cave in Bethlehem now considered the birthplace of Jesus."

Prophesies of the Messiah in Scriptures

Deut. 18:15 - Yahuwah your Elohim will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall hearken;

For myself, the recently discovered Torah Codes are proof that the Scriptures is the only book on earth inspired by the Creator. Therefore, I believe every word of Scripture. Without a promised Messiah, Yahuwah might as well have destroyed all of mankind right after the sin of Adam and Eve. Without a Saviour, there could be no redemption from sin and the penalty of eternal death. Salvation would be only a meaningless word. There would be no hope for mankind.

Isa. 7:14 - Therefore Yahuwah himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isa. 8:8 - And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

Hebrew

< Hebrew ʿimmānū'ēl literally, God is with us

The concept of the Messiah being born of a virgin was also long known. That is where Semiramis got the idea to claim a virgin birth for Tammuz. Of course, everyone should have known that she was no virgin. However, by “virgin” they meant impregnated by divine conception, and not necessarily a woman who has never had sex. The Jews knew this and they may also be aware of the link between Jesus and Tammuz; thus the accusation of Jesus being a bastard and Mary being a whore in their Talmud. The description suites Tammuz more than Yahushua.

One question I have always had is why he was called Yahushua instead of Emmanuel following his human birth. About the best answer I could find is the following.

http://www.onlinedebate.net/forums/showthread.php/292-Immanuel-or-Yeshua

Alright, I got this from Yeshua.com:

Yosef (Joseph), son of David, do not be afraid to take Miryam home with you as your wife; for what has been conceived in her is from the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit). She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua because he will save his people from their sins.” Mattityahu (Matthew) 1:20b-21

Our Messiah was named “Yeshua” for the very thing he was sent to do: to “save [Hebrew: yeshu'ah] his people from their sins.” “He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquity...” Yeshua died for our sins; he takes sin, becoming sin itself. God reconciles the world to himself in Messiah, not counting men's sins against them. (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Corinthians 15:3, John 1:29, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 2 Corinthians 5:19)

Changing one’s name to suit their “mission” seems to have been common place in the Old Testament. For example: Abram was changed to Abraham. Sari was changed to Sarah. Jacob was changed to Israel. Etc., etc. Yahushua was always with mankind and can rightly be called “Elohim with us” or Immanuel. Since the Father cannot abide corruption without destroying it, He needed someone of the creation to represent Him and deal with a corruptible, physical universe. Yahushua was the firstborn of the creation. He was also the “only begotten Son” and the Seed of creation. As the very first chapter and verses of the Gospel of John proclaims;

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim.

2 - The same was in the beginning with Elohim.

3 - All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

4 - In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Yahushua was the only one of the creation that was begotten of the Father. Everything else was created by and through the Son. Therefore, Yahushua can rightly be called Elohim, because he, at all times, represented the Father. Thus he always bore the name “Immanuel”. His name was changed to Yahushua (Yahuwah is our salvation), following his incarnation because of His new purpose – to be the perfect sacrifice for sin. Such a name change followed perfectly after the OT pattern.

Isa. 53:12 - Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Isa. 52:13 - Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

Yahushua’s sacrifice was the greatest act of love ever. He divested Himself of all His heavenly glory to become incarnated and die for the sins of men, so that they could find eternal glory. Tammuz never made any such sacrifice. Neither did any of the other pagan messiahs. All were born human. None came from heaven.

Mic. 5:2 - But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

This is one of the proofs that Yahushua pre-existed His human incarnation. He stood alone with the Father from the beginning of the creation, which may have been a very long time, before anything was created. He, too, was created with free choice. Therefore, it only makes sense that he had to be tried and tested before He could represent the Father before all of creation. He did have the advantage of existing alone with the Father all of that time, and; therefore possessed more intimate knowledge of the Father than any other creature. Therefore, it is my belief that He was anointed to be King before anything was created. However, He was not coronated until after His death and resurrection. That was His final test.

Neither Tammuz nor any of the other pagan messiahs ever pre-existed their physical existence. According to Greek mythology, all the gods emerged from a watery chaos (i.e. the Noatian flood). All were men who were deified following their physical demise. They died all manner of deaths. No one witnessed their supposed resurrections. Yahushua had over 500 witnesses to his post resurrection existence.

It was the eye witness (the apostles) accounts of Yahushua’s resurrection that drew believers to the Way of Yahuwah. That is what made Him stand out from all the imposters. That is also what scared the Greek and Roman authorities. There was no way that these pagan authorities would admit any superiority of the true Messiah over their pagan ones. The only way they could think of to overcome Yahushua’s popularity was to give Him a makeover into the image of Tammuz.

Zec. 9:9 - Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King comes unto you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Of course, everyone is familiar with the fulfillment of this prophesy. And yet, most of the Jews failed to recognize this fulfillment. Of course they have their leadership to blame for that.

The Jews were not expecting a “lowly” Messiah. They were expecting a great king and warrior that would deliver them from Roman persecution. They expected His 1,000 year rule to begin with His first manifestation. They did not understand that He must first qualify to be the Saviour by resisting all the temptations of the flesh and become the perfect sacrifice for sin – and then return some 2,000 years later to conquer the earth and begin His millennial rule.

Mankind is so focussed on preserving his physical existence that most will go to any lengths to maintain and prolong their lives. They focus on the physical because they have no faith in the spiritual. All Believers know that the physical is merely a temporary stepping stone to our promised eternal, spiritual life. And, of course, at most funerals, there is usually someone blaming “God” for their loved one’s demise. In one way they are right. It definitely is the “god” that they worship (HaSatan) that is responsible for the state of death that mankind must suffer. Death did not exist until HaSatan came on the scene.

Zec. 12:10 - And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

This is yet a future prophesy. It will occur when Yahushua returns to begin His rule. It will only be then that the Jews realize their error. They will experience immense guilt over their prior treatment of Yahushua. When He returns they will learn the truth and morn over what they put Him through.

Ps. 2:6 - Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

One of the things that both the Jews and the Christians agree on is that Jerusalem is going to be the location from which Yahushua will rule. Of course the Jews are already in Jerusalem. The Vatican has plans of relocating their headquarters to Jerusalem as well; in an effort to qualify their superiority over the Jewish faith and attempt to fulfill prophesy by their own means. All such efforts are futile and in vain.

PS. 2:7 - I will declare the decree: Yahuwah has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you.

8 - Ask of me, and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

This is also a futuristic prophesy. This is Yahuwah’s version of one world government. The pagan desire to form this one world government is again following the prior pagan pattern of trying to bring about prophesy on their own. Yahuwah’s version will be nothing like that of the coming man-made universal government.

Ps. 22:6 - But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

7 - All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

8 - He trusted on Yahuwah that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

9 - But you are he that took me out of the womb: you did make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.

10 - I was cast upon you from the womb: you art my Elohim from my mother’s belly.

11 - Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

12 - Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

13 - They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

14 - I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

15 - My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; and you have brought me into the dust of death.

16 - For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

17 - I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

18 - They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

The above describes Yahuwah’s first coming and the manner of His death. Yahushua fulfilled this prophesy in every detail. Not one of the pagan messiahs and especially Tammuz came anywhere near such fulfillment. The legends surrounding them were all built upon lies. Yet the people were impatient in waiting upon Yahuwah to bring about these prophesies and willingly followed after the counterfeit. Two thousand years later it is a miracle that anyone is able to wade through the tsunami of lies to arrive at the truth. That is why we should never stop searching.

Dan. 9:24 - Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

25 - Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

26 - And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 - And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The only messiah to fulfill this prophesy was Yahushua. There is none like Him. There were a number of Jews who actually believed and understood this prophesy and were expecting the Messiah around the time of Yahushua’s birth. John the Baptist was the foremost of such believers and was ordained of Yahuwah to prepare the way for Yahushua. Rather than listen to him, the Jewish authorities crucified him. The people believe more in their leaders than they did in Yahuwah and bought all of their lies. They, like their pagan counterparts, desired to have a man over them rather than Yahuwah, or anyone representing Him.

Tammuz was the people’s champion, just like Nimrod before him. They thought they could bring about Yahuwah’s kingdom by their own power. They wanted nothing to do with Yahuwah, nor his Messiah.

Naturally any counterfeit must resemble the real thing to be believable. Tammuz was the false prophet of his day. There have been many false prophets and messiahs since that time. There is a future false messiah coming. He will resemble the true Messiah. He will perform miracles and claim to be the returned true Messiah. He will appear as an angel of light. He will perform great miracles. He will be the people’s champion and many will mistake him for the real Messiah (in their eagerness to see scriptural prophesy fulfilled) and follow after him. Though he may appear and act like the real Messiah, the words that come out of his mouth will give him away, for his words will not harmonize with the Scriptures at all. Yet, none but the most dedicated of scriptural students will recognize that fact. What name he will call himself is anyone’s guess; but whatever it is, he will simply be another makeover of Tammuz.

Conclusion

One of the ways of determining truth is to examine the patterns of the lies that have been propagated since the time of Nimrod. All point to basically one person – Tammuz. His name has been changed to placate whichever nation. Military force has been the usual method of conversion. It will be no different with the end-time one world religion.

The true Messiah used no such method in spreading the truth. He appealed to the hearts and consciences of those who believed in him. People were converted by choice, not force. And, of course, a forced conversion is not really a conversion at all – it’s a submission.

Man has not changed since the original sin was cultivated in the Garden of Eden. He still denies the true Creator while worshipping any counterfeit that comes along. He is going to continue to do so until the end of the millennial rule of HaMashiyack.

At that time there will be one last revolt against the government of Yahushua. Even after one thousand years of living directly under Yahushua’s rulership, the grand deception will still be with us. When their “god” is finally released from his prison to once again lead mankind against its Creator, a very great multitude will follow after him. They will not realize their mistake until the final, second of death overtakes them; and by then it will be too late for salvation.

Tammuz was the very first counterfeit messiah; but there have been many since then. They all have been made to resemble the true Messiah in various ways. All are human inventions. Following any one of them only leads one further away from Yahuwah, rather than toward Him. All will end in total abysmal failure.

There is only one true way (the Way of Yahuwah), one true Messiah and one true body of Believers. These are the ones who know that they must achieve spiritual incorruption if they ever hope to achieve salvation; and are working earnestly towards that end.

We have all been given the spirit of discernment. That spirit enables us to discern fact from fiction. It does not come in one single moment of heavenly revelation, but in slow, minuscule increments. That is why we are admonished to study diligently and compare the counterfeit to the word of Yahuwah, as preserved for us in the Scriptures.

For us there is only one teacher – Yahushua HaMashiyack. All truth dwells in this one being and He will never steer us wrong. So study on, my brethren, and seek all truth and all incorruption.

Yahuwah Bless

G.P.
