The Accursed

The Accursed

The purpose of this article is to identify all the different things that could make a person accursed. Now, I am sure that all of us are doing our level best to appear before our Heavenly Father righteous and without fault. Actually, that is the only way we can appear before Yahuwah without His presence destroying us. So, if we do not wish to be pronounced accursed before Yahuwah, we had better learn the many different ways we can become accursed.

I found a pretty all-inclusive list of verses from the following site.

https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/words/Accursed

'Accursed' in the Bible

Deuteronomy 7:26 - Neither shall you bring an abomination (an idol) into your house, lest you become an accursed thing like it; but you shall utterly detest and abhor it, for it is an accursed thing.

I most Christian homes one can find a cross and /or a picture of their Roman messiah (Jesus). Both objects are considered idols and are therefore, accursed. The Jews have their “Star of David”, as a symbol of their worship. This too can be considered an idol and thereby, is also accursed. And, of course, there are all the obvious ones – a golden calf, statues of pagan gods, other objects tied to pagan worship. A true Believer should only have the Book of Scriptures in their homes. All these objects are detestable to Yahuwah and adoring such objects makes one accursed.

Deuteronomy 13:17 - And nothing of the accursed thing shall cling to your hand, so that Yahuwah may turn from the fierceness of His anger, and show you mercy and have compassion on you and multiply you, as He swore to your fathers,

This verse is talking about the Israelites ignoring Yahuwah command to burn everything of the conquered cities. If the city promoted and worshipped pagan idols, the whole city was condemned and accursed.

Deuteronomy 21:23 - His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of Elohim;) that your land be not defiled, which Yahuwah your Elohim gives you for an inheritance.

This is a reference to the death of the Messiah. He was hanged/crucified as an accursed criminal yet was totally innocent of any crime. Of course, the Jewish authorities delighted in their judgment of him, thereby bringing the curse upon themselves.

Joshua 6:17 - And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to Yahuwah: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

Joshua 6:18 - And you, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest you make yourselves accursed, when you take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

When an individual member of the congregation partakes of an accursed thing and the congregation does not punish him for it, the entire congregation becomes accursed. It is better to judge inhouse than to suffer the wrath of Elohim.

Joshua 7:1 - But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of Yahuwah was kindled against the children of Israel.

Yahuwah had commanded the Israelites to burn everything of the pagan cities they conquered. Achan, likely enticed by the gold and silver objects (symbols of their pagan worship), kept some of the objects for himself. The result was the Israelite army was defeated by the people of Ai. For his punishment, Achan was burned with the accursed objects he had stolen.

Joshua 7:11 - Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

7:12 - Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you anymore, except you destroy the accursed from among you.

7:13 - Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith Yahuwah Elohim of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of you, O Israel: you cannot not stand before your enemies, until you take away the accursed thing from among you.

If Israel had of obeyed Yahuwah and honoured their covenant with Him, they would have gain victory over their enemies. By not looking to the matter themselves and putting the offender to death, they made themselves accursed. And, instead of one man suffering death, many had to suffer on account of their inaction to obey Yahuwah.

At this point one might be asking, how do we obey Yahuwah’s commands in this day and age without being charged some crime which called for the man’s death? My answer would be to disfellowship the person and remove them from the congregation.

In my former church there was a lot going on behind the scenes that would amount to being accursed, which is perhaps why the WCG fell apart and ceased to exist.

Joshua 7:15 - And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has: because he has transgressed the covenant of Yahuwah, and because he has wrought folly in Israel.

This is the punishment Yahuwah ascribed for such an act. We must not condone any accursed thing or person in our midst. If we do not punish them immediately, we will become accursed also and share in the punishment.

Joshua 22:20 - Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.

Again, instead of one man dying for his iniquity, the whole congregation suffered because they allowed the sin to go unpunished.

1 Samuel 26:19 - And so then, please let my lord the king listen to the words of his servant: If Yahuwah has incited you against me, may he delight in an offering; but if {it is mortals}, [may] they be accursed {before} Yahuwah, for they have driven me away today from sharing in the inheritance of Yahuwah, saying, 'Go, serve other gods!'

This verse is speaking of the feud between David and Saul. Saul knew that David had been anointed by Yahuwah to replace Saul as king upon his death. Saul refused to accept his judgment from Yahuwah and sought numerous times to kill David. David eventually had to flee to the land of the Philistines to escape the wrath of Saul. In hope that David would honour ancient traditions and adopt the gods of whichever region he resided in, Saul had hoped to make David an accursed person before Yahuwah. However, David never took the bait.

2 Kings 9:34 - He went inside and had a meal. Then he said, "Dispose of this accursed woman's corpse. Bury her, for after all, she was a king's daughter."

This verse is speaking of Jezebel, a foreshadow of Hilary Clinton (Jonathon Cahn fans know what I am referring to). Jezebel was cast down from the city walls and trampled beneath the feet of many horses. I wonder what fate awaits Hilary for her many crimes. Hopefully, Donald Trump will yet see her hang for treason.

2 Kings 22:10 - And Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest has delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

11 - And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.

12 - And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king’s, saying,

13 - Go you, enquire of Yahuwah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of Yahuwah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.

14 - So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.

15 - And she said unto them, Thus saith Yahuwah Elohim of Israel, Tell the man that sent you to me,

16 - Thus says Yahuwah, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read:

17 - Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

18 - But to the king of Judah which sent you to enquire of Yahuwah, thus shall you say to him, Thus says Yahuwah Elohim of Israel, As touching the words which you have heard;

19 - Because your heart was tender, and you have humbled yourself before Yahuwah, when you heard what I spoke against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have rent your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you, says Yahuwah.

For a number of years, the book of the law was lost to Israel. Shaphan (the scribe) had Hilkiah (the priest) deliver the book to him, which he in turn presented to the king. And when the king read the law for the very first time the king realized his transgressions, he repented, rent his clothes and wept. Almost any crime can be repented of and forgiven by Yahuwah. The only one that Yahuwah will not forgive, is if someone who has begun to walk with Yahuwah decided to abandon the walk and return to their former ways, becoming once again accursed.

Psalm 119:21 - You rebuke the proud, the ones under a curse, who wander from Your commands.

Can one imagine if Yahuwah was as fickle as man in honouring his word and commandments? A king would not be much of a king if he kept flip-flopping on his royal commands. Once a decree is made, it cannot be changed. That would make the king a fool, and no one would respect him. Yahuwah is no different. He does not decree anything lightly. His decrees are wise and irrefutable. And, if man monkeys with his decrees, they become accursed. (The RCC is a prime example).

Isaiah 65:20 - There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that has not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

Sin does not naturally disappear over time. We may forget our sins, but Yahuwah does not, even if we live to 100. We have till the end of our days to repent. But I would suggest doing so long before then. All manor of sin is spelt out quite clearly in the Scriptures. We are without excuse. Some might think they can place the blame on HaSatan by saying, “The devil made me do it”. Yahuwah does not accept that excuse. We are the sons of Elohim and we swore an oath to comply with and obey all of his laws and commandments. Therefore, when we sin, we should know full well when we have done so. We will only be forgiven our trespass if and when we repent.

Yet some think that because they do not receive any punishment that they are still ok with Yahuwah. Then they may think that since they got away with breaking Yahuwah’s law once, they can do so again with impunity. Such are, in fact, lying to themselves and will face certain punishment for their transgressions. Again, there is only one path to forgiveness and salvation – and it begins with repentance.

Micah 6:9 – Yahuwah’s voice cries unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see your name: hear you the rod, and who has appointed it.

10 - Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?

11 - Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?

The truly wise men, the servants of Yahuwah, will see Yahuwah’s signature in all things and endeavour to serve Him in all truth and humility. In Micah’s day, the people of Israel were committing abominations regularly in the Temple. They knew better but did it anyway. These are the “treasures of wickedness”. If there is no repentance, the Temple itself becomes the “house of the wicked”. For this exact same iniquity, Israel was found guilty time after time and thereby became accursed. We, who call ourselves the children of Elohim, must never repeat this folly.

Nahum 1:14 - Yahuwah has issued a decree against you: "Your dynasty will come to an end. I will destroy the idols and images in the temples of your gods. I will desecrate your grave -- because you are accursed!"

In the end, all that is corruptible will be destroyed forever. Even death cannot save them from their fate. Our mission is to become incorruptible. Only the incorruptible can inherit eternal life. We must become one with Yahuwah as Yahushua was (in incorruption) if we ever hope to see the Kingdom.

Now let us see what the New Testament says on the subject.

Matt. 25:40 - And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.

To claim a relationship with HaMashiyack, we must be like he was. He always demonstrated love and kindness towards those in need. He never turned away from them. Because he did so, we must also do so; otherwise we are disrespecting His person and demonstrating that we are confessing kinship with our mouths only and not walking the walk at all.

41 - Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 - For I was hungry, and you gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink:

43 - I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and you visited me not.

44 - Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto you?

45 - Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.

46 - And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

All such acts demonstrate charity. There is no law against charity. One who talks the talk but does not demonstrate charity is like a clanging symbol – making a lot of noise and nothing else. Ignoring such acts of human kindness may buy us a one-way ticket to eternal destruction. If we talk the talk but don’t walk the walk, we end up hypocrites and will be judged as such. And notice in verse 43, this action is expected toward the stranger as well as our brothers in the faith. Remember, Yahushua did not reach to the righteous, but to the sinners.

John 7:49 - But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed!”

Yahushua was addressing the Pharisees here. Certainly, they did know the law. However, in twisting the law to their own benefit, they also twisted the intended purpose of the law. That purpose is to aid us in developing the same character as Yahuwah. Using the law to our own advantage (for whatever purpose) makes the law of no effect. Yahuwah may even regard such as worse than those who through innocence are ignorant of the law.

Romans 9:3 - For I could wish that myself were accursed from Mashiyack for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Paul would have gladly traded places with an accursed person if that would bring that person to salvation.

1 Corinthians 4:12 - And we still toil unto weariness [for our living], working hard with our own hands. When men revile us [ wound us with an accursed sting], we bless them. When we are persecuted, we take it patiently and endure it.

How often have we been ridiculed and scorned for our beliefs? How did we react? I have to admit I have a problem with this one. When I get “stung” I automatically sting back. It is like an automatic reaction. I do it before I even realize I am doing so. Sometimes I manage to control it. Sometimes I have to walk away and think for a couple of days before I respond. Of a certainty, Yahuwah’s thoughts are not the first to pop into my mind; but they should be. I have to fight to force them to the foreground; and, I am not always successful.

Again, I feel that the best place to train for the Kingdom is with our own families. That is where our ugly human spirit is at its worst. Yet, if we think about it, this is where our righteous spirit should shine the brightest.

1 Corinthians 12:3 - Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of Elohim calls Yahushua accursed: and that no man can say that Yahushua is Yahuwah, but by the righteous spirit.

Paul was speaking here of the Jewish elite. They claimed to be the ultimate authority, making themselves elohim on earth (same as the Catholic priests claiming to be god on earth). These Jews were claiming that Yahushua was accursed. They had this claim in mind when the hung our Saviour from a tree. However, it was not their actions that made Yahushua accursed; rather, their actions brought the curse upon themselves.

1 Corinthians 16:22 - If anyone does not love Yahuwah, he is to be accursed Maranatha.

For those who are not familiar with the term Maranatha, I looked it up:

maranatha

[ mar-uh-nath-uh ]

interjection

O Lord, come: used as an invocation in I Cor. 16:22.

And, how do we show “love” toward Yahuwah? By obedience to His every word. Not coming under obedience to His every word, brings us into an accursed state of being. The solution is simple – obey Yahuwah.

Of course, the entire Christian religion is under this curse, as they have deemed the law done away. We cannot free ourselves from this condition by doing away with the laws that render us so. This claim certainly does not fly with Yahuwah; and it will not be accepted as an excuse in the judgement. The only ones the Christians are fooling is themselves.

Galatians 1:8 - But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:9 - As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

How many self-styled evangelists are out there preaching a different gospel than the Apostles did? Doing so makes them accursed. Any teaching that leads a person away from the truth of Yahuwah and towards the lies of HaSatan are accursed. Such are not going to like their reward very much.

Galatians 3:10 - And all who depend on the Law [who are seeking to be justified by obedience to the Law of rituals] are under a curse and doomed to disappointment and destruction, for it is written in the Scriptures, Cursed (accursed, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment) be everyone who does not continue to abide (live and remain) by all the precepts and commands written in the Book of the Law and to practice them.

On the flip side, some have made obedience to the law a religion of itself and by doing so does away with the intended purpose of the law also. Obedience to the law was never intended as the end all to gaining the Kingdom. The purpose of the law was to teach us and help us build righteous character and become righteous as Yahushua became righteous –through obedience to the Father. Once the natural obedience to the law is ingrained permanently in us, the law will be no longer required.

Galatians 3:13 - HaMashiyack has purchased our freedom from the curse of the Law by becoming accursed for us--because "Cursed is everyone who is hanged upon a tree."

Yahushua purchased our freedom for us, because innocent blood was required for such a sacrifice. There is not a one of us that could have taken His place. And, it is all of our faults that He had to make such a sacrifice. Many blame the Jews for his death, but all sinners were responsible. Yahushua took the curse of the law upon Himself. The Jews pronounced the curse by hanging Him on a tree. But, because of His innocence, the curse remains ours. This curse can only be removed through belief, repentance, baptism and learning the law along with its intent. Committing any accursed act following the making of this commitment lays the curse once again at our feet and nullifies the commitment. Then we have to repent and re-commit once again to remove the curse.

2 Peter 2:11 - Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before Yahuwah.

12 - But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

13 - And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceiving while they feast with you;

14 - Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: a heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

15 - Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

16 - But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

Peter is talking here about those who “crept into the assembly unaware”. I personally suspect that many of these were former priests of Mithras who were attempting to lead the church astray. Unfortunately, it worked for the most part, which is how we ended up with the Christian religion.

Baal Worship is rooted in the Babylonian Mystery Religion, the first religion developed by man which was completely opposite of the true worship of Noah. Yet, the whole world succumbed to this false religion and abandoned the truth. For every true prophet of Yahuwah, there were scores of false prophets of Baal. The wages of unrighteousness is eternal death. To show His contempt for the false prophet (Balaam) Yahuwah used a dumb ass to rebuke him (i.e. one dumb ass to another).

Revelation 17:4 - The woman was robed in purple and scarlet and bedecked with gold, precious stones, and pearls, [and she was] holding in her hand a golden cup full of the accursed offenses and the filth of her lewdness and vice.

Now, I am sure that all true Believers know the identity of this “woman” by now. It is the Roman Catholic Church. She is the Great Whore, the mother of all harlots (churches that have come out of her). How many murders has this church committed? How much thievery? How much adultery? How many lies? Yes, the RCC is the mother of all Christian denominations. As I have pointed out before, those churches that broke away (Protestantism, Anglicanism, Baptist, etc.) did nothing to change the false doctrines of the church they left. So, these verses do not only label the RCC thus but all her harlot daughters as well.

Revelation 22:3 - There shall no longer exist there anything that is accursed (detestable, foul, offensive, impure, hateful, or horrible). But the throne of Elohim and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall worship Him [pay divine honors to Him and do Him holy service].

This verse says it all in plain easy to understand terms. In essence, corruption cannot inherit incorruption. It is as simple as that. folks. We must make ourselves incorruptible if we ever hope to see salvation and the Kingdom of Yahuwah. This is the only way to remove the curse which impedes our efforts to attain eternal life.

Conclusion

Is there one law that is above the others as far as salvation goes? No! If we break the least of any of the laws, we are in danger of losing our salvation. In effect, if we break one, we break them all. This is what righteousness is all about. When we achieve such a state, the thought to sin should never enter our minds again. And, if the thought to sin remains in us, we have not achieved this state.

Belief, repentance and baptism is not the end all of our walk. It is only the beginning. From that point on we must learn righteousness. We must seek out all of which remains that make us accursed and GET RID OF IT. We all have such “hidden” sin and need to scrub our souls clean before we are ready for the Kingdom.

The main gist of Yahushua’s message for mankind is “Love one another, as I have loved you.” The only way to truly know and understand such love, one needs to remove all sin from our beings. The thought to sin should not automatically raise its ugly head any time that we find ourselves in a compromising position. Instead we need to reflect on the love of Yahushua and mimic Him in all situations.

The worst enemy of man is his own human spirit. It always strives against the spirit of Yahuwah – even when we wish it were not so. We are slaves to unrighteousness, and it is no easy task to climb out of this situation; however, Yahushua proved beyond all doubt that it is possible. He would not ask it of us if it were not.

So, let us dwell on this topic in the days ahead and try our best to root out and get rid of all and any sins which yet present themselves and become blessed instead of accursed.

Yahuwah Bless
