Wednesday, October 28, 2020: NPC Costumes

I started playing early again this morning, and Isabelle greeted me with an unexpected Halloween costume! How adorable! She clearly spent some time decorating the town hall with some pumpkins (or spooky towers, I believe is the official item name).

I participated in Label's fashion research, putting on formal wear. I figured the hat I had on worked fine already!

I got a new recipe for a spooky lantern, which is basically a singular carved pumpkin - a jack o' lantern! I've also started decorating the island with non-carved pumpkins, which I think looks really nice.

I went to meet my new neighbor, Sydney.

I caught Cookie still asleep (it was, to be fair, 7am...) - it reminded me of the villagers falling asleep outside their houses in the GameCube version (I just recently watched The Organized Gamer doing mushroom hunting in that game! I believe there will be mushrooms in New Horizons in November - City Folk seemed to start that trend for the newer games.) Anyways.

Finally, I was able to collect a few star fragments from last night - I just love the dawn colors! It's been fun playing early in bed - reminds me when I would play City Folk early before school back in 2011.

Anyways, I played a little more later today. Cookie was more awake now (at noon), and she was excited for Halloween. I've been doing a lot of planning for the event, too!

I also caught Merengue reading a book on flowers? At least I think so, because she would often look up from the book and study the flowers.

When I went into the Nooklings' shop to buy some candy, I was met by another surprise: Timmy and Tommy had on little fake ears! So naturally, I had to check out the Able Sisters (and buy some more items for costumes while I was there), and then actually head inside Resident Services (Mabel, Tom Nook (of course with the devil ears!), and of course Isabelle all had their own costumes). What a cute little detail Nintendo put in here! Part of the beauty of these incremental updates to the game, as they can focus individually on each one, rather than the game as a whole.
