Tuesday, March 31, 2020: C.J.'s Fishy Challenge

I was busy finishing and submitting a composition today (to Paris!), so I didn't get a chance to play myself until the evening. However, I knew from my sister C.J. was on the island! This beaver was right up her ally because she loves fishing in Animal Crossing. She gave me three koi so she could get a fish model for her house, alongside one of a coelacanth and a couple other fish. Before I could get that done, I had to complete his challenge: catch three small fish in a row!

(Is it just me or does his dialogue remind me of the pop stars Callie and Marina from Splatoon 2?)

I actually messed up one of the fish, but luckily the counter just reset and everything was fine. Unrelated to this quest, I managed to snag an oarfish for a lot of Bells, which I needed, as you'll see. I sold it (and other fish) to C.J. since it was after 10pm and the shop closed - and, bonus, as I learned earlier in the day, C.J. accepts fish for 50% more than what the Nooklings pay! Bonus!

In other news, we had a visitor at the campsite; Kyle! After speaking with him, he let me know he would love to move in! I don't think I took any pictures (and I left my Switch in the dock downstairs and am too lazy to go get it...), but you'll see in future entries the second neighborhood we started across the river. Finally starting to build beyond the starting area a little.

Tom Nook was pleased about it - he gave me the construction kit to place down. He also let me essentially buy out land for more villagers to come (this is where the second neighborhood comes in), so I can set up where more can move in! Finally, never again do villagers have to ruin my plans! (Not that this island is THAT organized...)

I also started growing oranges and cherries at the back of the island for easy cash flow. Because I binged through Stampy's two Animal Crossing: New Horizons streams while I worked in real-life (including the second one he did live, playing with Sqaishey), and saw he added a fourth row to his inventory - that gave me the initiative to go ahead and extend mine, too. I think this is the most it can go - 40 slots! Including stackable things! Going back to the original GameCube game or even Animal Forest on the N64 (as I've done in a couple streams) will feel like such a slog! Nintendo's really modernized that original game well...
