Monday, March 1, 2021: Prepped to Build!

I had to play in the morning to at least take a look through the list of Mario items! I eagerly went to my Nook Shopping app, more excited than ever before. Just like in the Direct, there everything was! I started with the pipes, because that's going to be a very helpful thing to have around functionally - I know Marissa was planning on disguising hers in her island so it doesn't ruin her aesthetic. I also had to order the Hinaningyo, because I recognized it from the original Animal Forest N64 game. Also, I didn't want to miss out on getting it.

Because you can only buy 5 things a day, I was being careful with what I got. But then I remembered I have the rest of my family on the island! They aren't really playing the game anymore, so I switched to their Switch profiles (see what I did there?) to send things to me - so now I can get 20 items a day! For today, that included the Mario outfit so I can upgrade the one I had before that was custom-made. (Listening to a Nintendo Switch music mix as I type this - the Bubblaine music from Super Mario Odyssey is currently playing!) I also threw out a bunch of letters from my mailbox to make room for the incoming storm of stuff tomorrow!

That's pretty much the extent of what I did in the morning. I logged back in later in the afternoon, and liked seeing the new springtime design of Nook's Cranny. Sable also commented on the weather warming up - that inspired me to go for an afternoon walk in real-life, too!

Kicks was in-town at the plaza; I didn't really want anything from him however. Sydney mentioned the park clock by the plaza as well; more on that later...

Not much to say here - I just like seeing the greenery of the tree and the bamboo. I also shot this balloon too early and it disappeared into the flowers below! Sad.

I decided to customize the two signposts outside the entrance as Marissa had suggested. The one on the left indicates the direction of the fishing pond and ocean; the right leads to the marketplace where Nook's shop is. Of course, at some point I'll probably be doing my major renovations to the island for my big seasonal spot for more decorations, but it's accurate for now!

Finally, I was thinking about getting some fencing as a way to block off paths as I work on my obstacle course. I didn't find any I wanted, but I did look through the other items I could buy with Nook Miles and bought five streetlamps - again, the max I can get here. I guess this got away from me at the start of the game, but in New Leaf I loved putting streetlamps everywhere, and I was especially looking forward to seeing them in the winter months. Obviously winter is over; but I still thought it would be fun to start sprinkling some around the paths, especially as I start changing things around. I can imagine nice spring/summer walks at dusk, with a warm town-like feeling with the lamps and park benches and that.

I'm going to be fairly busy tomorrow, but I am planning Wednesday night to be my time to start playing with all my new toys. I might play to order new things tomorrow morning, but I'll wait until Wednesday for the blog before trying out the warp pipes and everything. It'll be exciting - plus, a way to celebrate the Nintendo Switch's 4-year anniversary! I'll have to include some Breath of the Wild references and Pokémon references and things in this obstacle course too, somehow throw Final Fantasy into the mix... Hmm!

In any case, I remember before how I was excited for the Super Worlds in Mario Maker 2 back in April 2020, and I took a break from this game. Now, I have Mario Maker inside Animal Crossing, and I know I'd have been all over it if this update had released back then in my Mario mania phase... Anyways. Stay hyped! I've lots of plans leading up to New Horizons' 1-year anniversary to celebrate!
