Saturday, March 28, 2020: A Little Community

Resident Services appeared to be closed when I booted up the game today. Tom Nook even mentioned he would repeat this announcement he made yesterday since I missed it - I was sick IRL and basically slept all day, just like my character in the game. :) I also met my new neighbor (who moved in yesterday) Merengue. There were several villagers all walking around the plaza I noticed, and for the first time this deserted island has started to feel like a little community on this 10am morning when I played. It's nice having my family IRL playing too!

I also played around with moving furniture around in my house with the drag and drop method introduced in Happy Home Designer. It's so nice, and works just fine on the TV! I wonder if, similarly to Super Mario Maker 2 and the 3DS spin-off HHD, you can use the touch screen as well... I'll try that out next time I get a chance.

Later this afternoon, I extended my fenced-in area a bit as well to include a cut-out mountain, which reminds me of Mario mountains for some reason. Also, Sherb, ever the craftsman, was making a music stand out of hardwood - count me in! I crafted one and practiced the ocarina for a bit in my house.

Check out Patty's cute poses she was doing in her house. I also love the look of it! I love how objects in the distance or foreground get blurred out when you're in conversation with someone in this game... All these little touches, giving new life to the villagers beyond what New Leaf did, it all gets mixed together to create this wonderful experience that really warms my heart. This is definitely the best Animal Crossing has ever been!

(Now that I study this picture in more detail... It's, it's a little creepy, Patty. Don't come any closer.) :P

I played a little later in the evening and witnessed my first villager conversation in New Horizons. It was... very interesting. Also, I just want to point out how gorgeous the sunset is in HD, very close to Breath of the Wild! Sometimes you can even see the sunshine in the corner of the screen gleaming, but I also like seeing the sunlight reflecting on the water.

On a side note, I just finished a blog post on my violinist.com blog about an 8-bar improv I filmed and recorded for StringPlayerGamer's "K.K. Cruisin'" collab he's doing on YouTube. I had this game running in the background alongside the box and my Switch on the TV dresser. The full video should be out sometime in April, so I'll be sure to link it here once it comes out!

Also, I'll let you know if anything happens with K.K. Slider tonight... It IS Saturday, and he normally shows at 8pm; but in New Leaf he didn't show up right away, so we'll have to see... I'm assuming it'll be the same this time around too, I'll have to wait to unlock him...
