Saturday, September 26, 2020: Unexpected Bug-Off

I've been busy and have been away from my Switch, so this afternoon I gave myself a nice break from my work to play. Isabelle informed me the final Bug-Off of the year was happening today - what a way to return to Animal Crossing! I was not expecting anything to be going on, to be honest.

I tried a couple rounds just for fun - and because I saw a few bugs right there on my way. It's been a while since I've played, and there were a lot of weeds I was passing by.

A lot of my neighbors were missing me - I hope I'll be able to play at least once a week from now on! Especially with the Halloween update that was just announced yesterday - man, I'm excited to make a virtual pumpkin patch! With this pandemic and not really being able to go to a real one, it'll be fantastic to relax in one here!

We had built a mountain on the eastern coast of the island back with the swimming update to mess around with leaping into the ocean - I decided to remove it to potentially put some more decorations there as the seasons change.

With my points from the Bug-Off, I got a toy cockroach! I used it as a funny prank to hide it in front of my dad's house - I actually fooled myself later on!

When I went shopping, I noticed some autumn decorations in the Nooklings' shop I hadn't seen before. Especially as we're past the official start of fall, it's a great time to notice them! Again, I can't wait to grow my own pumpkins!

Sable also thanked me for speaking with Label and enjoying their little family. I suppose I was just doing my daily rounds, enjoying saying hello to everyone in my Animal Crossing community.

There were plenty of weeds to pull! I haven't seen this many weeds on my island since the early-game back in March. Hopefully I'll be able to at the very least continue upkeep of the island, even if I can't do a blog post every single week. The Organized Gamer also mentioned the bushes on the right being in full bloom now. I like the sunset on the water, reminding me of Super Mario 3D World for some reason.

I played a couple hours later when the sun had fully set. Flick reminded me again this was the final Bug-Off of the year. A busy plaza of animals having an afterparty maybe.

I noticed I still had some summer stuff in the corner of my yard by my house, so I decided I'd at least make a start making some autumn items - I'll do more with the update I'm sure. I didn't have many pinecones and acorns and kept shaking trees, but just got loads of sticks. So I settled on putting this autumn harvest tree by my house for now, although I have a couple other recipes I can make in the future.
