Thursday, July 30, 2020: Dreams

Nintendo announced Wave 2 of their summer update this week, and I found out from JVGS Jeff, an incredible Animal Crossing YouTuber I have watched since 2006, that it became available last night! I went ahead and tried it out this morning. Instead of going to a separate building, whenever you lie in a bed indoors, a prompt allows you to sleep, and you meet Luna in a very pretty dream-world! Reminds me of the Magicant Smash Bros. stage from Earthbound.

The first (and only for now) town I searched up was Forest, Jeff's town he posted last night! I got the code from a Tweet he said, saying he posted it at 5am. It's interesting you can't search for a random town like you could in New Leaf. I was expecting something more akin to Mario Maker 2's search engine. You can get custom designs at the portal, just like you could in New Leaf from Wendell. Also interesting to note - you don't change into pajamas like in New Leaf.

Seeing the early sunrise and hearing the calming 5am piano music (which I have not heard before) made for a very relaxing experience. I enjoyed wandering around the town, recognizing his villagers and various attractions from his videos and blog entries I've read. It reminded of me when I visited his New Leaf town back in September 2013.

Some more attractions in the town. I liked seeing the pagoda over the sunrise.

I enjoyed hopping around his Frogger obstacle course. I didn't have a ladder, so I couldn't actually reach the end.

That wasn't the only game reference in the town. Two SNES games, Super Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, were referenced as well in the form of Rainbow Road and Spectacle Rock.

That was Jeff's town! It was really great to visit. I'm sure he will update it in the future as well, as he did for New Leaf. This is a wonderful feature, reminding me of an online version of trading memory cards in the GameCube version for multiplayer. It seems it's still missing some features that New Leaf had, however. If Nintendo is taking their time updating the game every month, why can't they include features present from the beginning of the 3DS game?

Anyways... I didn't load up the game just to sleep. I have been playing the game off and on since my last post, and one thing that happened recently was I finally got my basement, and could move my film studio down there! I had ordered another simple panel for my green screen, so I put it in. I also took a look at the fireworks wallpaper Nintendo sent me.

Speaking of fireworks, they will be in town every Sunday in August, similarly to the previous games. While I was reading the bulletin board, Merengue was also there, hoping to dance.

I chatted with some more villagers. When I went to find the villager making a recipe, I woke Sherb up from a nap. Maybe he was visiting Forest, too. :P

Kyle taught me some Italian (thinking of Vivaldi and Stradivari :P), and I wanted to introduce Diana, who was making a fancy flower wreath. She is a new villager who we had move in recently. She has a snooty personality type, and although I haven't spoken to her much yet, it's nice to have some new dialogue from the villagers, because I haven't seen snooty villagers in this game before.

I was having trouble finding my gold glowing spot as well. After I finished playing, I was reading an article on Polygon, which mentioned luck as a smaller feature added in this update. Tripping and the King Tut mask return! I didn't encounter either thing today, but I wonder if bad luck has to do with me not finding my money spot.

Any-who, I will end off today's entry with a picture of my Dream Address, if you would like to visit Iyerland and see what my family and I have done with the island beyond my livestreams. I am considering starting to do some New Horizons videos, as opposed to livestreams, similarly to my 2011 City Folk videos. One of my first ones will probably be a town tour, and I'll be sure to update this Dream Address after I record that video.

Anyways, thank you so much for reading, and to quote Jeff, "Never stop Crossing!" :P
