Before we get to the destruction of the island, of course I had to check my mail! Bwahaha! Erm, anyways... Mom sent me a letter about the springtime coming, and Sherb got me a costume to dress up in. (Speaking of - I changed into a work outfit for starting my work today! I need the Builder Mario outfit from Mario Maker 2... :P)
Cesar was also crafting in his house! He didn't teach me anything new, but always fun to see his fancy bar/pub.
Diana and Merengue were spending some time together at the plaza.
Alright, and then it was time to start! As you may know, the whole lower half of the island is pretty flat, so there was nothing to level; I just had a lot to get rid of! That's how I spent half of my play-session tonight, just removing paths.
C.J. was there as I was working. He kept popping up as I was cleaning up the marketplace! It was both sad and oddly satisfying getting rid of everything - it's all on my YouTube channel for Year 1 of the game (even though we're on the tail end of it)!
Getting rid of the orchard took some time too; I moved a sample of each tree type (as well as flowers!) to the upper part of the island (that's not changing!).
As the evening drew later, my villagers kept wanting to speak to me. Fauna wanted to call me 'biscuit', which I allowed; and Avery completely forgot what he was going to say in the first place!
Celeste was also here tonight, and I got a new recipe.
I also loved starting to place coins around the track - here's a sneak preview of the start of the course! The coins are very satisfying to run through; I've noticed all the sound effects seem to be drawn from the New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe game (originally from 2009's New Super Mario Bros. Wii though). That's fine and brings back nice memories to playing the New series of games (and the amazing Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii right along with the release of New Horizons with my family!) - I do prefer the 3D World sound effects, especially with the new re-release of that on Switch; but these are good too! Anyways - I also put in the SMB1 block flooring in my house.
Sydney asked me to send Merengue a gift - I saw Merengue was also crafting, although it was again something I already had.
It's just fun seeing Cesar walking around town now; I've had such fond memories with him!
I set Tom Nook to demolish one of the ramps that I don't personally use (plus it was getting in the way of my course) so I could move it to be included in the course. (I don't want the players to have to use any items going through, just like my City Folk obstacle courses!)
That's all for today! Whew, I've got a project on my hands; it will be fun to work on! It's been nice to be able to get back into the island designing a bit with this course; I feel like I didn't do a lot of it after initially designing the island layout and settling in. The plan is after the obstacle course video and livestream to slowly take all this down, and then have a blank lower half of the island I can decorate how I want, perhaps seasonally. Not sure if I'm even going to have time to do blog posts on New Leaf now like I was playing; I'll be so invigorated in the designing of my island in New Horizons! We'll see.
Oh, and happy 4-year anniversary, Nintendo Switch! I spent some quality time with my Switch today. :P
