Sunday, February 28, 2021: Two Waterfall Entrances

I got a letter from Gulliver. He sent me a pagoda. Unlike the pagoda models from previous games, this one is huge! You can't even see my character! Also, Sylvana had an interesting reading choice for me.

I took a quick peek at the seasonal items, this one for a Japanese festival - I had read from JVGS Jeff's blog they're only offering one item per day. No idea why, but I agree with him: not a fan.

Anyways, today was a multiplayer session day with Kaitlyn and Marissa! (It's been either this or Final Fantasy IX recently.) While we waited for Kaitlyn to be ready, Marissa came over to my island briefly to visit Cesar with me! I enjoyed blocking her out chatting with Fauna. :P (She does look quite cute in her rain outfit!)

We headed into Cesar's house, which is themed after a bar! He wouldn't offer us any drinks; he just kept walking away... Not a great first impression, but oh well. Welcome to Iyerland, old pal! He's even wearing the A shirt I remember him having in Wild World!

Upon seeing the signposts I had put down at the entrance of my island, Marissa informed me you can customize them - something I did not know about! You can change the symbols to be different things relating to your island. I was also suggesting to Kaitlyn she use custom design easels to label buildings or parts of her town - advice from an Animal Crossing veteran. :)

I was getting ready to head over to Kaitlyn's island, but I had to say hi to Cesar when I spotted him out and about before I left.

I followed Marissa's plane over to Kaitlyn's island, and wow! She's been working hard this past week on her island, and what a stunning entrance! I love how the waterfalls circle around the central fountain, leading off into the four directions.

I spoke to her newest resident, Nibbles. I also ran into Kyle - always great to see him here! Maybe I can catch him in his amazing musical home I loved seeing way back in April on a livestream.

I thought the trees lining this path here were really nice, especially reflected from the sunset. She's moved her museum up to this higher mountaintop, which is pretty neat! She's trying to base some of these areas similar to Breath of the Wild, like the Lost Woods, the neighborhood area to the left being the town, her house being in the general location of Hyrule Castle, etc.

Marissa and I paid Tangy a visit; I love how fruity and citrus-themed her house is! Brings back memories of the GameCube version.

It's always fun to see Velma; I remember her as one of the first confirmed villagers to the game in that E3 2019 trailer. Also, you can see her not-so-blue TARDIS parked on the cliffside - a reference to Doctor Who, like her in-game name, River.

The next stop was heading over to Marissa's island - she also had a gorgeous waterfall entrance! She was using a customized sign to lead to her Resident Services building.

I liked this scene of the three bears eating dinner. Where's Goldilocks at?!

I'd forgotten Marissa was able to get Fauna to come to her island, one of her favorites playing Pocket Camp. I already have her in my island, from being a favorite from New Leaf! Her house of course looks exactly the same.

This spot here leaping across these grass blocks was neat, and then getting to hop the gap to make it to this villager's house. It's really neat! I like how (at least for now) Marissa hasn't settled for a neighborhood design for the villager homes. It brings back that classic Animal Crossing feeling where they'd move in wherever.

Finally, Celia shared her cozy nostalgia towards sunsets. I quite agree, especially on long summer evening walks - and they've never looked better in the Animal Crossing series than here!

We were chatting about doing a special livestream to celebrate the game's 1-year anniversary, not unlike how I did a 3-year anniversary video in City Folk - one of the first blog posts I did on this site, in fact! So there's something to look forward to. For now, I'm excited to check out the Mario items next week and start working on another classic City Folk thing: an obstacle course! Stay tuned for plenty more Animal Crossing fun coming to the blog and the channel, and never stop Crossing! :)
