Friday, December 18, 2020: Friday Night Wi-Fi

I've never really blogged that much playing online in New Horizons as compared to City Folk and even New Leaf, since I was livestreaming this past spring and summer. However, tonight was just so funny I had to share it here! So consider this a throwback wi-fi post to my City Folk blog in 2011.

Anyways, before I headed over to my friend Kaitlyn's town of Hyrule, I bought these candles from the shop (here's hoping the festive tree from the past games will be available soon...!) and checked in on my melting snowmen.

Oh - I also quickly stopped Sylvana from leaving! She and Sherb's cuteness are here to stay.

Over in Hyrule, we walked around, touring her island in winter. I enjoyed coming into Kaitlyn's library room, where there are all these books on the bookshelves... yet Marissa and I are reading e-books on our phones. Maybe they'll let us read books and hold weights and things like the villagers do in a future Reaction update! I can't imagine it'd be difficult since they'd just be transferring animations over.

Marissa and Kaitlyn both went into town hall to try and get the new reactions from this most recent update. So we were all messing around with them. I spoke with Isabelle (or, you know, the clones!) - I hadn't tried speaking to them before.

I looked in my crafting menu and made a few more ice things for Marissa's Elsa/Snow Queen room she's working on (she just got the game recently), and then I made this illuminated tree for Kaitlyn! We worked together to get the ornaments (and Kaitlyn gave me some of her iron). I then started mashing A on it in her house so it would turn on and off, but it was mostly funny to see my character's arms flapping like crazy. Some video clips for a new series on my channel... Hint hint! I also liked seeing her Godzilla monster. Roar!

Back on my island, Diana was getting all excited about Toy Day and spending time with friends. I'm so glad we have Animal Crossing as a platform to hang out with friends virtually during this strange ride of a year!

I gave Cookie a new catchphrase - her name, Cookie! - and later found her sitting by a tree in our orchard... sure you're comfortable there, Cookie??

Of course, after making an illuminated tree for Kaitlyn, I was eager to make one for myself. I was able to fairly quickly scoop up more ornaments on my island and I put it outside in an open area. It doesn't turn off if you have it outside it seems, but for now I kept it there to light up the night. - Oh yeah, I also got miles for visiting other people's islands (I need to get out of the habit of saying "towns!") 10 times! The Nook Miles really are like achievements for this game, like on PlayStation or Xbox. I noticed my Switch was at 22% or so at this point, so I shut it off and called it a night.

Here's the first episode of a brand-new series on my channel: my Animal Crossing: New Horizons Moments! A sequel to my City Folk Moments series from 2011, which in turn was inspired by Jeff's GameCube Moments series for the original Animal Crossing, I thought I could start posting some of the videos on my Switch from this game. It's better than using a VCR player like I did back then!

Here's the video - and I'll be sure to post when the next couple come out. Similar to my City Folk Moments, I'm hoping to roll them out every week or so, depending on how much I play, etc. This first one has clips from when I started playing the game back in March, saved to the console since then. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNp5sG35HYk
