Wednesday, December 2, 2020: Decked out for December

Isabelle told me about hoping for Santa to come for Toy Day. It's that time of year!

The same two buildings that decorated for Halloween had up some lovely Christmas lights and a tree that flashed different colors. It's a bit like the Bright Nights Festival in Wild World, just on large buildings rather than houses. I doubt there will be anything similar in New Horizons right now, but maybe it's something they could add.

At Nook's Cranny, I bought this little robot, one of many festive toys that will be sold up until Christmas Day. I also bought some stockings to hang on my wall. I will be fixing up this main room at some point!

Similar to in the leaf decorations in autumn, there were some cute snowflake decorations by the tools for winter.

I picked up a couple things at town hall as well, like the two seasonal items on offer, and the customizable phone case, which I've never played around with until now. I'll check it out next time I play when it arrives in the mail - I ordered a few things to play around with!

The Able Sisters were selling a whole bunch of new winter and holiday clothes! I went straight for the blue knit cap, a staple item I've loved wearing in the past games since Wild World. It looks a tad different here (and comes in different colors), but still. (That's kinda cute - I just noticed looking at the second picture the snowflakes on the sides for winter!) I also got some slippers from Kicks.

When I was talking with Sydney, she was asking me about a book I'd bring to the deserted island. Actually, this conversation reminds me of one of Nintendo's videos, asking Aya Kyogoku and Hisashi Nogami (the director and producer of this game) about what they would bring to a deserted island! It's funny it's actually included in the game, too, which I suppose makes sense considering the setting.

Another random memory more for my own posterity... I've been listening to Cuyler's Dobutsu no Mori e+ soundtrack, so the island theme from that game was a tune I heard recently. I had to pick up the K.K. remix in New Horizons! I've loved watching BrianMP16's couple of videos of this game - I watched a lot of Animal Forest e+ Bingo since Animal Crossing on the Switch was announced, getting hyped for it throughout 2019.

Phil gave me a snowflake sweater, which I think I just bought at Able's! Oh well. I also spent time cleaning up all the pumpkins and autumn decorations everywhere (the grass is even paler, kind of like how it gets almost black in previous games). It was fun today to do my daily tasks on the TV, then undock the Switch and play in the car IRL when going to see some lights on trees at the local arboretum.

Very excited for winter in New Horizons! Been fairly busy recently, but I will hopefully be able to make plenty more time when snow starts falling, and especially when it sticks! Not sure if it'll be the same as in previous games, but we'll just have to wait and see!
