Friday, December 4, 2020: Custom NookPhone

So last night, I did actually pull out my Switch and wish on some shooting stars after all... I also got a new recipe from Celeste. I haven't seen her in a while!

This afternoon, I got a letter from Mom. It's snowed there already?! I want it to show on the island soon!

At Able's, I dressed as a festive ninja, and picked up the wrestling mask because it's another item I remember wearing a lot in Wild World for some reason. I guess I'm only just now noticing some of the things they've brought back from past games.

Mom sent me her sweater, which I wore today. I also picked up an RC helicopter from the shop. I'm excited for these toys - I've seen some of them already from YouTubers.

The plaza was fairly lively today! I liked what Diana said about doing things and nothing - a dilemma I've thought about before, like being totally addicted to Animal Crossing or music. Although right now, I feel like I'm doing pretty good at enjoying both!

I found some star fragments by the beach as I hit my rocks (I had a short break in-between for why there's a time gap).

Another thing I did was customize my phone for the first time! I know - I've been playing this game for how long now? I picked this striped design saved from the marketplace or something because it reminded me of a wooden pattern, which I liked. I never noticed how much the NookPhone is design-wise like the Apple iPhone! The Nook logo and Apple logo are even in the same spot.

Here are a couple pictures of me sitting by the riverbank with a couple of my villagers. I guess this technically happened before I did my phone case according to the clock, but you know... it's fine...

I actually played later this evening, while I was watching a fantastic Twitch streamer, BrianMP16, work on his legit 100% completion challenge of the original Animal Crossing on GameCube - so it was Animal Crossing overload! I started redecorating my main room for the holiday season. The floor is definitely a placeholder for now, but it reminded me of another childhood GameCube game I loved, Super Monkey Ball, and its arctic theme - so I went with it. I love how the RC helicopter actually flies up into the air! I spent a good few minutes just playing with these toys.

I thought this line from Cookie was worded strangely! It's just because the item name doesn't make for using it in dialogue make sense grammatically, but whatever. The quirks of the dialogue algorithm, I guess! She also gave me some blue headgear to match the sweater, which I suppose works in terms of color...

Here are a few of my villagers Naruto-running around the plaza with glow sticks. They must be playing some sort of party game. I discovered if you run into them, they do a little tripping animation! Aww, it made me feel bad; I was just trying to play along!

Because I was still itching for an Animal Crossing fix even later tonight, I went to the dream island of Pace Haven, which BrianMP16 actually did a video of this summer exploring. Kind of like New Hyrule, it's a giant maze all around the island. It's more linear with an end goal, where New Hyrule was more open-ended and you have to find specific items to progress.

I thought Adrien saying "Alola!" could have been a reference to the Alola region of Pokémon: Sun and Moon - perhaps referencing the island setting applying to that 2016 game and this 2020 game? Perhaps!

Really in the mood now to say "Never Stop Crossing!" A friend of mine is getting the Animal Crossing special edition Nintendo Switch next week, so I'm really excited to continue diving into this game and enjoying the series on the whole as I head into a Christmas break. It's been great to continue this blog for much longer than City Folk's or New Leaf's, and I'll keep it up as long as I have interest in the game!

I've also been thinking of how fun it would be to create an Animal Crossing music album, as insaneintherainmusic just announced his Sinnohvation album of music from Pokémon: Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I would love to do something similar for the Animal Crossing series, and what its music has meant to me!
