I learned this evening the update would release at 10am Japan time on the 18th, and that was about 8pm my time! I was on the Switch menu waiting to update the software, and was eventually able to. I liked the note I got about it being (about) a year since I moved in - that is certainly a crazy thought! You can also see the anniversary cake I got, which includes some classic Animal Crossing iconography, as well as the ladder in the back from this specific game. Thank you, Tom Nook!
I headed to Resident Services to check out the new custom design things - time to get my iPhone update! :P I suppose it's even more accurate since the game is actually updated; in Breath of the Wild, I'm thinking about Link getting new runes on his Sheikah Slate like iPhone updates too, lol!
As it says, we can now add designs to all kinds of other things! The flags seem perfect for a game like Capture the Flag or determining teams or something; I wonder if I could use them for my obstacle course or a future mini-game. The exciting thing for me was the face-cutout standee, which was introduced in New Leaf. Well, it's properly here now!
Here's a sneak peek of my obstacle course, which will be slightly different on Saturday than the video I recorded last weekend. I had to put the anniversary cake with all my other celebratory things right at the entrance, though!
I decided to try and make something with the cutout standee. I'm artistically challenged, and can't wait to see things like Mario backgrounds and that by fans online to download! For now, I went with this purple panda bear, because... why not? It's at the entrance of my obstacle course, as something to do while we wait for people to arrive. I'm hoping it'll be a big party on Saturday!
(You can even press A on the cutout to do a few facial expressions! I was trying to load up the Reactions, but you just do these instead with A.)
The final thing I did tonight was to recreate the referee look from my Animal Crossing: City Folk character from this video (ACCF Obstacle Course - June 8, 2011)! It was really fun. The actual outfit was just me taking general cues from the blurry TV screen in the video, but then I realized I could go a step further and actually change my character's hairstyle and facial expression for this! I think it's the short hair I had in real life back in summer 2011, but I'm sure it will be fun to flaunt temporarily. I could always change it back mid-livestream. :)
Hope you're looking forward to Saturday's livestream! Again, as I've said in the past, I'll probably start slowing down on blog posts. Of course, I'll post for any big updates, seasonal events, parties, interesting happenings, etc. But I'll also have my Moments series and possibly more livestreams in the future. I also mentioned potentially blogging New Leaf; I haven't really had any time to play it, let alone New Horizons! So we'll see what happens. Either way, it's all Animal Crossing, and all great! And even if there are features that are missing that we want back, I still think New Horizons is my favorite game in the series, and of all-time. :P
See you next time! Never stop Crossing - and happy 1-year anniversary to this incredible game!
