Thursday, February 25, 2021: Spring's Springing

Last night, while playing Project Triangle Strategy and Chess in 51 Clubhouse Games, I got a notification for downloading the Animal Crossing update, so I got it and loaded it up briefly to see the mushroom mural that Nintendo sent me. It even animates, so the Piranha Plants come out of the pipes, and the coins glow like in the original Super Mario Bros. from 1985! It brought back memories of the City Folk Mario stuff I was obsessed with finding in the balloon presents! I remember in the GameCube game you could only get them using Internet codes, as they were specially released. My friend Kaitlyn this morning was suggesting a Mario-themed obstacle course, which would make for an incredible YouTube video and throwback to my City Folk obstacle courses!

Anyways - I wasn't planning on playing today when Kaitlyn also informed me the snow had melted! I never even made one last snowboy... I had to check it out. Instead of green grass like in some of the other games, it's more of a brownish color. I guess the grass will be getting more green as we get closer to March.

You can see above Cookie had a thought bubble, and wanted to give me her garbage bin. At first, I was going to play it off as a joke, but then I remembered how there were items in New Leaf where you could throw out things you didn't want - and that is still the case in New Horizons! This would be perfect for getting rid of duplicate D.I.Y. recipes.

Finally, just a few more environmental pictures - I didn't play for too long. I thought it was funny how the Nooklings' shop still has a snowman and winter lights up. I also liked seeing the bright greens of the bamboo, and the dark greens of the leaves on the trees. After a long winter getting sick of seeing the snow I was once so excited for, it's always refreshing when spring finally arrives. It also means we're coming up on the game's 1-year anniversary! Well, I've got some video plans coming up, so I'll probably start playing the game a bit more often from here on out! No promises though. :)
