Monday, March 30, 2020: Working with my Former Secretary

Isabelle greeted me as I opened up the game this afternoon announcing the new campsite! Tom Nook cryptically told me to plant more flowers and make visitors want to stay on the island and move-in - so I'll keep an eye out in the next few days for visitors. I guess this is the second stage of our operation?

I also checked out the ramp we paid off last night. It'll be a perfect and easy way to get up the cliff! Now my sister wants a bridge leading across the river to the left side of the island, and I want to build the expensive zen bridge... We'll see! (My sister actually caught four coelacanths today!)

Oh yeah - I also got some Dodo Airlines merch (a cool shirt!), and I was playing online with a friend last night (my first-ever 5-player Animal Crossing multiplayer experience!) and gave me this hot dog hat you can see me wearing in the previous picture. Now I have to return the favor for her... (And I'm thinking of setting up a multiplayer session of my own this weekend; hopefully stream it, so I'll keep you updated with the plans!)

Speaking of fashion, Mabel also let me know she was talking with her sister (Sable) and Tom Nook about opening up a shop on the island! That'll be exciting! It's neat that these characters are interacting with each other as I know from Wild World and City Folk how deep their backstory goes - it's cool to see Nook inviting them here!

Anyways, since my sister played most of today, I returned a bit late at night to chat more with Isabelle. (One great thing I love is how Tom Nook and Isabelle are sometimes working at their computers in-between taking customers!) I first composed a town tune - or took from the second movement of Maurice Ravel's String Quartet in F. This was the first tune I played back in 2018 with Nintendo Labo on the Switch, so I thought why not bring it into the new Animal Crossing on the Switch as well. :)

(One thing I failed to mention yesterday musically - I love hearing Isabelle's theme/the town hall theme from New Leaf here; additionally, it's in a medley with Nook's shop theme!) The hourly music (some of it) is starting to grow on me a little. I'll be sure to give a fuller review of it in the future - maybe of all the Animal Crossing hourly scores?

Then I got the Nintendo Switch Online app (for faster texting when I play in multiplayer, as even using the touch screen is pretty slow and annoying) to post a picture of Rose, my dog, as the island flag! My whole family is on the island, and I figured Rosie should be there too, even if she's a dog and doesn't understand video games. I think the feature is more designed for use with New Leaf and Happy Home Designer QR Codes so you can transfer designs from those games here, but there's a nifty converter online that puts real-life pictures into the game! I really heard about it through Sqaishey (a YouTuber I watch) using a cat photo she likes into the game, even as her phone case!

Isabelle loved it! Haha, of course, she's a dog too!

Here's a look at the flag. It's night and raining, so it's not the best time to view it, but I'll try and remember to snap another photo during sunny weather and daylight. So cute though - you can make out the silhouette of dog ears! :)

Throwback: Remember around the Harvest Festival 2011 in City Folk I copied a design of Nintendogs into the game? I could much more easily do that now in 2020! :)
