Saturday, October 3, 2020: Growing Pumpkins

I pulled out my Switch today to check out some of the new update to the game. Isabelle informed me all about what's planned for this month.

I headed straight for the shops as my first stop of the day. I found a couple options for Halloween costumes I went ahead and bought to keep in storage for now: this animal costume and some pilot shades.

At the Nooklings' store, I was able to buy candy and pumpkin starters! The process of purchasing candy is similar to the past Animal Crossing games, where you can only buy one piece a day. The idea is you'll have to play every day this month if you want to stock up before Halloween.

Shopping done, I headed back to my house and noticed I never checked my mail! I got a nice note from Avery about working hard, a letter from Nintendo thanking me for downloading the update, Nook Inc. letting me know about the new face-paint options, a letter from "Mom" about what she's been up to, and finally, a letter from Jack to let me know to start prepping for Halloween, just like he did in City Folk and New Leaf. It'll be fun to see him again!

Here's a look at all the items I got. I love the cat tea kettle! And Nintendo doing more promotion for their Ring Fit Adventure game.

I was looking at my phone or something for a second, and when I went back to look at the TV, Diana basically jump-scared me by showing up in my yard! She seemed very intrigued by my jacket. Sylvana was, too.

I went over to Sherb's house and found him crafting - he gave me a recipe for a tower of pumpkins! The perfect thing to put in my yard.

It took me a while to figure out where on the island to plant these pumpkins I bought. I finally settled for clearing away this small bit of land and just make it a tiny pumpkin patch.

I decided to put some fencing around it and make it look nice, and on that screen I was able to purchase the face paint for Nook Miles. I'm not sure if I'll play around with it or not but I'll have it just in case.

Here's what I came up with. I decided to buy more pumpkins and ran into Phil at the store, excited about a cardboard box. What a guy.

I accidentally bought one extra, so it's just chilling by my house for now. Maybe it's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! :P

Anyways, it will take a bit for these pumpkins to grow, but it seems watering them speeds up the process. I guess the rain was good for something this morning as I didn't have to water them. I'll keep checking in and update the blog once I've started using them!
