9 May 1885 - West End Park was opened at Cleckheaton by B. H. Goldthorpe, Chairman of the Local Board. The field was formerly known as the "America field" and was the property of the Low Moor Company who agreed to let the field at £14 per year.
c. 1887 - Land acquired for a recreation ground at Moorend. The site was originally located at the top of Heaton Street.
1913/14 - Due to expansion of the nearby gasworks further land was acquired from Charles Hirst & Sons for a new recreation ground on the site where it presently stands. The land was bought by the District Council for £2,803.
21 Jun 1913 - King Edward VII Memorial Park opened in Cleckheaton by Samuel Law who also provided the bandstand.
11 Nov 1922 - War Memorial unveiled at Cleckheaton Memorial Park by Alfred Law Mowat.
29 Jul 1951 - WW2 memorial unveiled at Cleckheaton Memorial Park.
12 May 1923 - Sir Algernon Firth formally opens Firth Park at Heckmondwike.
1 Aug 1887 - The Low Moor Company agree to let a field at Popplewell, Scholes to the Cleckheaton Local Board for £10 per year for the purposes of a recreation ground.
