A bit of a mystery at the moment, as it is not entirely clear where this was located. By the sounds of things, it was very close to the two Pack Horse Pubs at Moor Top, which could explain why it didn't last very long. The premises do not feature in the 1861 census.

(NB - There is only one James Bates in the 1841 census for Cleckheaton. He is recorded as a card maker and residing at Hartshead Moor Top, with the New Pack Horse shown just a couple of doors away...was this the Grove Inn?)
