1878 - 1888: Richard CROOKALL
Born 1836 in Blackpool, the son of a shoe maker. Accepts an invitation to become pastor at Westgate in 1878. In 1881 was residing at Whitcliffe. Resigned in 1888 and moved to Bethel Chapel, Chester-le-Street, Durham where he remained until 1906.. Died in 1914 at Middlesborough.
1889 - 1908: George SLACK
Born 1861 in Ashton Under Lyne. in 1891 was residing at 70 Westgate with his first wife and in 1901 was at Somersby, Whitcliffe Road, with his second wife who was the daughter of Jonas Briggs of Westfield House, Wyke. Died in 1926 at Wakefield.
1908 - 1916?: John Hall BATEY
Born 1878 in Walker-on-Tyne. In 1911 was residing at Hillcrest, Cleckheaton with his wife. Believed to have resigned in abt 1916.
1916 - ????: Thomas PORRITT
Previously at Bradford and Morley, accepts a temporary post at Westgate following Mr Batey's resignation. He was largely responsible for the erection of the present Elland Congregational Chapel. He died in Bradford on 22 Sep 1936, aged 89 years.Â
