7 Apr 1861 - Census - Upper Lane, Cleckheaton. George Ball, a 38 year old Police Inspector residing with his family.

11 Mar 1865- Tenders are requested for the building of a Police Station at Cleckheaton. There is nothing after this to suggest an official opening but perhaps coincided with the opening of the "new" Fire Station in 1867? The building was located at York Place at its junction with Whitcliffe Road and remained as the Police Station for many years..

2 Apr 1911 - Census - 1 York Place, Cleckheaton. 46 year old Police Sergeant William Skelton Hayston is residing here with his wife and 7 children.
