31 Mar 1868 - Court Case - John Scott of the Shoulder of Mutton, Gomersal, was convicted of keeping his house open during prohibited hours. It had been the Gomersal Feast and he had 160 guests in various rooms during Sunday closing time. He was fined 40s with costs.
23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. The licence for Henry Smith of the Shoulder of Mutton was granted without any objection.
