CLECKHEATON
3 May 1890 - Cleckheaton swimming baths, Tofts Road formally opened by Mr. Benjamin Holdsworth Goldthorp. Total cost of the build being £4,500. Earlier public baths had been located as early as 1876 at the Temperance Hotel off Crown Street.
1927 - Public Baths, Tofts Road, manager recorded as Frank Stott.
1933 - Mixed bathing allowed for the first time at Cleckheaton baths, Tofts Road
1974 - Swimming baths at Tofts Road, Cleckheaton closes due to the popularity of the "new" Spenborough baths.
1979 - Cleckheaton baths, Tofts Road demolished
1969 - The new Spenborough swimming pool opened at a cost of £300,000.
2019 - Spenborough Baths demolished.
28 Feb 2022 - The new Spen Valley Leisure Centre, built on the site of the old Spenborough baths, was opened.
1974 - The sports centre adjacent to Whitcliffe Mount school opened.
