Frank Peel mentions in his book that in the 1830's Jonas Fearnley was "mine host" of the Wheatsheaf at Scholes. There is a baptism record at Whitechapel in 1820 for a child of Jonas Fearnley of Scholes and at this time he is recorded as a publican.
