The Globe Inn

Started life as The King's Head and changed it's name to The Globe in the very early 1800's.

1803 - Liversedge Survey - Shows the owner of the King's Head is Joshua Goodall and the tenant is Joseph Goodall

1 Jun 1810 - Deeds - Transfer of deeds regarding a messuage, dwelling house or tenement now occupied as a public house and lately known by the name of "The King's Head", but now by the sign of "The Globe Inn", with brewhouse, stable, garden, yard and other appurtenances, situate at Milnbridge, formerly in the occupation of George Heaton (jun), afterwards by Joseph Goodall, then lately by John Munday but now Edward Senior.

1822 - Baines Trade Directory - Globe Inn, Millbridge. Landlord recorded as George Humble.

30 Sep 1839 - Property Auction - Freehold and well-accustomed public house known by the sign of The Globe Inn, with stabling for 30 horses, spacious yard and outbuildings thereto belonging, situate adjoining the Leeds and Huddersfield Turnpike road.

1857 - Kelly's Post Office Directory lists William Whitfield at the Globe Inn, Millbridge.

4 Jul 1859 - Court Case - Thomas Elliott was convicted of permitting drunkenness at his house in Millbridge. Fined 10s and costs.

7 Apr 1861 - Census entry - Millbridge. Premises not named but adjacent to "Globe Yard."

23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. The licence for Thomas Elliott of the Globe Inn was granted without any objection.
