4 Jan 1806 - Newspaper Article - A meeting was held at the George Inn, the house of Francis Popplewell regarding the Millbridge to Cleckheaton turnpike.

1812 - Book Article - Frank Peel mentions in his Spen Valley Past & Present book about the Luddites attack at Cartwright's Mill at Rawfolds. Soldiers were billeted at various public houses of the district including the George & Dragon, which is now known as The George.

1822 - Baines Trade Directory - George & Dragon, Heckmondwike. Landlord recorded as John Royle.

5 Jun 1822 - Property Auction - Held at the Green Dragon Inn, Heckmondwike, the house of John Boyle regarding land near the Old Independent Chapel. (this is likely to be the George & Dragon run by John Royle and later became just the George)

2 Apr 1840 - Property Auction - Held at the George Inn, house of Mrs Royle regarding the sale of a local mill, machinery and other property.

1841 - Trade Directory - Pigot & Co., National & Commercial Directory records Jane Royle at the George Inn. She was also a wine & spirit merchant
