23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. The licence for John Schofield of the Grey Ox, Cemetery Lane was granted without any objection.
2 Apr 1871 - Census - Grey Ox Inn, Cemetery Road. Samuel Schofield & large family are resident. He is shown as a woollen weaver.
26 Aug 1875 - Brewster Sessions - Oliver Marsden of the Grey Ox Inn, Cemetery Road, asked for the transfer of a beer licence to premises in Brighton Street, lately used as a church mission room. The applicant was removing from the Grey Ox, which was going to be turned into cottages. There were a number of objections made but the transfer was granted.
