For the researcher of both local and family history, the 1921 Census is the last census that will be publicly available for a long number years. The 1931 Census was completely destroyed by fire and the 1941 Census was not taken due to the war. This means that the next available census will not be released, under the 100 years rule, until 2052!
The 1921 Census was supposed to have taken place in April, but was postponed due to the threat of a general strike. The date on which it took place was eventually the 19th June 1921. We once again see that householder completed the schedule, so each record has differing quality of handwriting. The images underneath the area buttons are from the census schedule and show what information must be included. One downside of the census from 1911 is that it no longer records how long a couple had been married nor the total number of children a woman had had, but on the bright side, we see the addition of some excellent extra employment details which includes who the individual worked for and where.
Whilst still concentrating on adding the census details from earlier years, a selected portion of this census will also be added. Details of approximately 10% of each enumeration district will be added until each and every district is covered. These selected entries will then be further added to over time until each district is complete. The link to each district will show the rough percentage of how complete the area is. At this time there is no information as to the boundaries of each district.
Below are the links to each area so far included. More areas will be added in due course.
