The 1881 census was taken on the night of 3 April 1881. We still see relationships, ages (although don't always believe them as plenty of white lies were told!), the condition of the person in question (Married, single, widow etc.), their place of birth and finally a further column to identify if the subject was either blind or deaf and dumb. In addition, and very politically incorrect, it also recorded whether the individual was a lunatic, imbecile or idiot. Each household was also given what is called a "schedule number" which is just a consecutive number given by the Enumerator and should not be confused with any house numbers in the address.
