Located at the "Swan" Crossroads, junction with Leeds & Bradford Roads. Believed to have closed down in the early 1920s.
17 Mar 1866 - Newspaper Article - A fight broke out n the New Inn, Millbridge between two men. The landlady is named as Ann Ackroyd. The two men were ejected from premises and continued to brawl outside. The apparent aggressor died a few days later from head injuries and a local man was charged with his manslaughter. A result of the court case has not yet been located.
23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. The licence for James Ackroyd of the New Inn, Millbridge was granted without any objection.
2 Apr 1871 - Census - Beerhouse, Millbridge. Premises not named but evidence suggests it was here. Beer seller recorded as James Ackroyd & family.
5 Apr 1875 - Court Case - James Ackroyd, landlord of the New Inn, Millbridge was summoned for permitting drunkenness in his house. The case was dismissed after it showed that steps had been taken to get the police to remove the men.
25 Jul 1877 - Probate Calendar - James Ackroyd, innkeeper, died 10 Jul 1877 and left an estate valued at under £100.
20 Aug 1877 - Licence Transfer - From James Ackroyd to Ann Ackroyd (his widow).
7 Jul 1879 - Licence Transfer - From Ann Ackroyd to William Naylor.
Sep 1879 - Brewery - Acquired by Springwell Brewery.
3 Apr 1881 - Census - New Inn, Millbridge. Beerhouse keeper recorded as William Naylor & family. He was also a billposter.
4 Jul 1881 - Licence Transfer - Beerhouse (not named but evidence suggests it is here) from William Naylor to James Buckstone.
31 Dec 1883 - Court Case - A young man was charged with being drunk and refusing to leave the New Inn, Millbridge, house of Mr Buckton. The case was dismissed as witnesses stated the landlord was "three times drunker!"
25 Apr 1887 - Court Case - George Hirst Kaye was convicted of permitting drunkenness on his premises. Fined £1 and costs.
19 Aug 1889 - Licence Transfer - New Inn, Millbridge from George Hirst Kaye to John Buckley.
5 Apr 1891 - Census - New Inn, Leeds Road. Innkeeper recorded as John Buckley & family.
31 Mar 1901 - Census - New Inn, Millbridge. Beerhouse keeper recorded as John Buckley & wife Elizabeth.
7 Jul 1902 - Licence Transfer - New Inn, Millbridge from John Buckley to Alvin Copley.
6 Feb 1905 - Licence Transfer - New Inn, Millbridge from Alvin Copley to John Thomas Sharp.
5 Mar 1909 - Brewster Sessions - Renewal of Licence referred to the Compensation Authority.
14 Jun 1909 - Compensation Authority - Renewal of the Licence was not refused.
5 Dec 1910 - Licence Transfer - New Inn, Millbridge from John Thomas Sharp to John Thomas Rouse.
