Officially falls under the Liversedge district (the boundary being the dotted line on the map below). Located at the entrance to what was the old Broomfield Mills at Moor Bottom. A newspaper article states that the premises were built in 1867 by John Roberts who became the first licence holder.
23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. The licence for John Roberts of the Broomfield Hotel, Hartshead Moor Bottom was granted without any objection.

22 Jan 1875 - Newspaper article - 45 employees of Umpleby Boiler Works were treated to a dinner at the Broomfield Hotel, house of Mr & Mrs Roberts.
3 Sep 1877 - Court Case - John Roberts, landlord of the Broomfield Hotel was charged with permitting drunkenness in his house. Fined 20s.
22 Sep 1879 - Court Case - George Kershaw, a gardener from Moorbottom, Cleckheaton, was charged with being drunk and refusing to leave the Broomfield Hotel. John Roberts, the landlord, proved the case and he was fined half a sovereign with costs.
