White Hart

Located at the bottom of Listing Lane (once known as Gomersal Lane). It was conveniently located adjacent to the Liversedge railway station (when it had one!).  Later became the Station Hotel and now known as The Toby Jug.

23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. The licence for George Broadbent of the White Hart was granted without any objection.

22 Jul 1870 - Court Case - George Broadbent, landlord of the White Hart Inn, was charged with selling drink outside of permitted hours. Police had received numerous reports of drinking in a wood shed adjacent to the pub and secreted themselves for six hours watching the events. Fined 20s and costs.

19 Mar 1875 - Court Case - Richard Sykes, landlord of the White Hart Inn, Listing Lane, was again charged with being drunk in his own house. He pleaded guilty and blamed his condition on the fact that a servant was leaving his employ. Fined 10s and costs.
