Located at Regent Street which had previously been known as Lower George Street. The premises were originally known as the Lower George Inn. Premises closed down at the end of 1917.
The photo to the right featured in an article "Those were days" published by the Spenborough Guardian in 2004 and shows the landlord as Charles Frederick Haslam who held the licence for a short time in the late 1890s.
23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. George Walker of the Lower George Inn had been convicted of allowing a game of bagatelle to be played. Licence renewed after a caution.
2 Apr 1871 - Census entry - Lower George Street. Premises not named but evidence suggests it was here.

28 Aug 1877 - Court Case - John Ellis was fined £1 and costs for being drunk and refusing to quit the Lower George Inn, Heckmondwike, house of Thomas Roberts.
3 Apr 1881 - Census - Regent Street. Premises not named but evidence suggests it was here. Publican recorded as Thomas Roberts & family.
23 Dec 1889 - Newspaper Article - Local mill owners held a meeting at the Lower George Hotel, Heckmondwike, to discuss the recent increase in the price of coal.
Abt 1890 - Change of name - around this time the Lower George becomes known as the Regent Hotel

30 May 1917 - Compensation Authority - A number of cases were held regarding matters referred to to the committee on the ground of non-necessity. One of these was the Regent Hotel, Heckmondwike. There was no objection and the licence was refused.
15 Dec 1917 - Compensation paid and house closed.
1919 - Brewery - Sold by Springwell Brewery.
