7 Apr 1861 - Census - Bird Acre, Gomersal. Although premises not named it is believed to be here. Landlord recorded as Joseph Taylor & wife Martha.

23 Aug 1869 - Brewster Sessions - Annual session for the granting and renewal of licences was held at Dewsbury. It being the first session in which the new Wine and Beer Act was put in force. The licence for Edward Dixon Smith of the West End Hotel was granted without any objection.

2 Apr 1871 - Census - Bird Acre, Gomersal. Although premises not named, other records suggest it was here. Landlord recorded as Edwin Dixon Smith & family.

7 Jul 1879 - Licensing Register - Transfer of licence from Edwin Dixon Smith to John Hunter.

4 Dec 1916 - Licensing Register - Transfer of licence from William Gordon Simpson to Mary Ann Simpson. (husband on active war service)

10 May 1919 - Death of the above William Gordon Simpson, who survived the war but who would later die from Bright's disease at Gosforth Hospital. He was buried at "Pork Pie" Chapel and is remembered on the Spenborough War Memorial.

1 Dec 1919 - Court Case - Mary Ann Simpson, landlady of the West End Hotel was charged with supplying during prohibited hours. Fined £25 or 3 months in prison.

5 Apr 1920 - Licensing Register - Transfer of licence from Mary Ann Simpson to John William Turner.

24 Oct 1941 - Court Case - Joseph Todd of the West End Hotel was charged with supplying after permitted hours. One of the customers being an off duty police officer! He was fined 20s for each of the seven offences.
