Fleece Inn

Located near to the top of High Street, just below the junction with Batley Road. Believed to have closed down in 1911.

19 Aug 1872 - Court Case - A man was convicted at Dewsbury for being unlawfully disorderly at the Fleece Inn, Heckmondwike, the house of Samuel Hepworth.

1 Mar 1875 - Licence Transfer - High Street. Premises not named but evidence suggests it was here. From Samuel Hepworth to James Hanson.

2 Jul 1877 - Licence Transfer - High Street. Premises not named but evidence suggests it was here. From James Hanson to Robinson Walker.

3 Apr 1881 - Census - High Street. Premises not named but other evidence suggests it was here. Publican recorded as Robinson Walker & family. He was also a rag merchant.

21 Jan 1883 - Court Case - Several local publicans at Dewsbury Police Court were fined 10s for having unstamped pint pots. Robinson Walker of the Fleece Inn was one of them.

Jul 1889 - Brewery - Acquired by Warwick & Co.
