28 Feb 1911 - Cleckheaton Council approve plans submitted by Messrs. Howorth & Howorth, on behalf of Mr Walter Goodall, for a picture palace in Albion Street
Mar 1911 - The list of contractors selected for the construction of the Picture Palace is announced as:
Masons: Messrs Robinson & Crowther; Joiner: William Isherwood; Plumbing & Heating: W.T. Haley; Plasterers: Messrs. T Cordingley & Sons, Bradford; Slaters: Messrs J.M. Thornton & Sons, Heckmondwike; Steel roof: Messrs. Heywood & Co., Huddersfield; Concreters: Messrs. Sellers Brothers; Painters: Messrs S. Nutter & Sons.
It is intended that the Palace shall be completed for the Coronation.
Apr 1911 - An advert appears in the Cleckheaton Guardian asking for an accomplished pianist.
27 Jul 1911 - The Picture Palace cinema, Albion Street, Cleckheaton opened.
1960 - A blaze forces the Palace cinema, Albion Street, Cleckheaton to close down. It is replaced a year later by the new Market Arcade.
c. 1911 - The Cleckheaton Animated Picture Company, showing films at the Temperance Hall, Brooke Street. Manager: Arthur Ellis, grandson of John Siddall, newspaper proprietor.
1923 - The Savoy cinema, Albion Street, Cleckheaton opened.
1972 - The Savoy cinema, Albion Street, Cleckheaton shows it's last film.
1990 - Savoy cinema, Albion Street, Cleckheaton demolished
23 Jun 2003 - The Savoy Square, Cleckheaton (an old eyesore for many years) on the site of the demolished cinema, was opened after hard work from Spen Valley Civic Society members and volunteers at very little cost.
Heckmondwike
27 Apr 1911 - The Picture Palace, Croft Street, Heckmondwike opens. Earlier performances shown at the baths.
c. 1915 - Pavilion Cinema, High Street opens
Dec 1962 - Last film shown at the Pavilion
1965 - The Pavilion demolished
