UPPER VALLEY PLAZA

This is the largest plaza in Lebanon. It opened in 1968 and was anchored Rich's and a 20,000 sq.-ft. Purity Supreme. In 1969, the building where JCPenney is today was added but the store was then W.T.Grant. That store closed in 1976 and JC Penney moved in around 1977. Rich's was originally 50,000 sq.ft. and was expanded and renovated in 1991. Purity Supreme closed in February 1996 and was replaced by Shaw's.

Rich's closed around 1997 and Ames acquired the lease. The brick and entrance's style were left intact and were typical of Rich's. The 81,000 sq.ft Ames closed in 2002 after the bankruptcy of the chain, and it was replaced by Kohl's in spring 2004.

Also in spring 2004: Maurices opened in the former Booksmith, Flower Cafe became GameStop, Cherry & Webb became I-Party and Famous Footwear opened in the former Poore Simon's. JCPenney renovated their store in fall 2005 (the old storefront is pictured below). In 2012 Fashion Bug announced it would closes all of its stores including the West Lebanon location.

In 2013, Shaw's supermarket closed some unprofitable locations including the Upper Valley Plaza Shaw's. The  60,841 sq.ft. store became available for lease. In June 2017, the 15,000 sq.ft. Sears dealer store was closing. In the nearby Kmart, a Sears Appliance section opened in the former Garden Center.

Today, HomeGoods and Petsmart occupy the former Shaw's building. In June 2020, JCPenney announced the closing of 154 stores including the West Lebanon location plus 3 other stores in NH.
