RUTLAND MALL

Rutland Mall does not exist anymore (as a mall). The mall most likely opened between 1973 and 1975. It once was anchored by Zayre and Montgomery Ward and many smaller stores. There was an Osco Drug and Martin's Supermarket that were directly attached to the mall, but neither had access to the enclosed mall corridor. There was an Ames located in a former King's in Rutland. Ames acquired Zayre and opened another store at the Rutland Mall.  So, for quite some time, Rutland had two competing Ames stores.

Montgomery Ward closed and left the mall. Ames followed and closed in 1997.  KB Toys moved to the Diamond Run Mall in late 1995. It was one of the last store to close at the mall. The mall was finally closed. It was demolished and replaced by a Home Depot. Two stores were later added on the left of the store including Big Lots. The former Bonanza Steakhouse on site became Panda Pavillon and is currently the East Asian cuisine restaurant.
